I've been coming to Boostin' Bowls for almost once a week for the past year. I've always enjoyed the bowls and to me the acai is one of the best that I've come across in the city. This past Saturday, I called to place a phone order as I always do and the person who answered the phone answered as if she were picking up her personal phone and not a business order. She simply said, " Hello?" and I then said" Hello, can I place an order?" and proceeded to then place it. I've experienced this before here when they answer the phones they don't greet all the time.
When I got to the store, there was one girl taking a phone order and another one working on orders. Initially, I didn't mind that my presence was not acknowledged because both girls were working, and I did not mind waiting patiently. Once she got off the phone, she pulled the ticker receipt for the phone order and places it on the counter. We both just stared at each other as I am waiting again for her to say hello or how can I help you? About 30 awkward seconds roll past I sorta head nodded her, waiting for her to ask me what I needed help with. Instead of saying hello or anything, she head nods/makes a face back. I then say to her, " I placed an order over the phone. " In which she just asks me my name, still did not greet me or say anything beyond that. I then told both girls that I did not want my bowl anymore because I was standing there and neither one acknowledged me or even greeted me. This is not the first encounter I've had over the phone or in person, but I've always disregarded it to the story being busy or the people who work there just being young college students.
While I do truly enjoy the bowls as I've been here so many times and have recommended others to do the same, I am unsure if I am going to be returning. As a customer, I would prefer to spend my $15 dollars every Saturday going to a place where the staff is friendly to their regulars and at the bare minimum acknowledges when...
Read moreWe got the tropical bowl with acai and pitaya as the base. I wanted to call the surprisingly fresh fruit (the strawberries were fantastic for April) its only saving grace but nothing could salvage how unpalatably sweet the acai and pitaya bases were. At times it was so sweet we genuinely couldn't taste a difference. The pitaya base is cheap and gummy, the pitaya had a slightly better flavor and a texture that more closely resembled blended fruit. We licked some of the honey drizzle off the lid and it barely tasted of honey but rather, again, sweetness. The two of us couldn't finish one bowl on a hot day. Staff was nice, service prompt, store clean, but not...
Read moreMy usual smoothie bowl place changed their hours, and had been messing up my order, a lot. So I Googled other smoothie bowl places, and found this place was closer to where I live. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they got my order (even with modifications!) exactly right! The cashier was very personable, there was street parking nearby, and the bowl was a decent size. I got the nutty bowl, I believe, but no pecans, and added chocolate chips (I love chocolate, ok?).. I have been back since and got the same thing. I will definitely keep...
