Second Visit: The person/manager at the reception cursed us in a foreign language while talking to the waitress, and he assumed we wouldn’t understand it while we were seated at the table. I would expect better hospitality from the staff, even when the food is top notch. That’s not how you talk about a customer.

First visit: First, we tried the Chicken 65, which was a spicy and tangy appetizer. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the spices were perfectly balanced.

Next, we ordered the Chilli Chicken, which was another spicy dish with tender pieces of chicken cooked with bell peppers and onions. The sauce was thick and savory, with just the right amount of heat to make it interesting. The chicken was cooked to perfection and was very flavorful.

For my main course, we got the Chicken Hakka Noodle and Chicken Fried Rice. The Chicken Hakka Noodle was a delicious blend of stir-fried noodles with vegetables and tender pieces of chicken. The noodles were cooked al dente, and the chicken was cooked just right, not too dry and not too moist. The Chicken Fried Rice was also well-prepared, with fluffy rice and perfectly seasoned chicken. I would prefer the latter as it a personal preference.

Overall, the meal was a delightful culinary experience, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Indian cuisine. The taste reminded me of the authentic Indo-Chinese cuisine that is famous Kolkata, India. The flavors were bold and complex, and the portions were generous. The service was also excellent, with attentive waitstaff who were knowledgeable about the dishes and made great recommendations. So shoutout to Iqbal. If you are looking for a delicious and authentic Indian meal, this restaurant is definitely...

"Dear Manayunk Indian Grille,

First off, let’s clear the air (which, by the way, wasn’t fresh in your restaurant either). We did NOT eat all the dishes. We made the rookie mistake of ordering several items at once, only to realize halfway through that we’d signed up for a 'Guess the Expiration Date' challenge. The frozen food we did try was passable, but the stale and stinky ones? Yeah, those went untouched.

Now, let’s address the elephant—or should I say the mouse—in the room. Yes, we spotted a little rodent doing laps around the restaurant like it was his personal playground. Hygiene issues, anyone? Maybe instead of critiquing our behavior, you could invest in a door seal to keep your furry patrons outside.

As for your defensive response—wow. Instead of owning up and improving your food or service, you’re playing detective on four people’s collective behavior. Bravo! Here’s a thought: maybe spend less time covering up bad reviews and more time covering up the mouse holes.

For those considering a visit, don’t just take my word for it—check out the sea of 1-star reviews from other Indians. If only there were a way to give negative stars to match this restaurant’s unusual responses and questionable hygiene!

Thank you for the entertainment. Unfortunately, your food wasn’t...

We ordered the chicken tikka masala, goan fish curry, aloo gobi and house biryani. The chicken and biryani were good however are lacking a certain depth of flavor I can’t quite put my finger on. The chicken almost tasted like it was cooked in a cream based tomato sauce and didn’t have enough spices in it. We asked for it mild but that should not take away from the flavor. What I was disappointed in was the Goan fish curry. Typical Goan fish curry uses a firm fleshy fish (kingfish or pomfret) while the fish we got seemed to be a light fish like a cod or halibut. We also asked for the highest spice level (spicy as in heat) and it was not spicy in the slightest. While it is cooked in a coconut based curry, again, that shouldn’t take away from the heat. The biryani we got had goat in it as well as shrimp and the goat was well flavored but the shrimp was not. All in all I think this caters more to the American palette but is a few steps away from what I would consider traditional Indian cuisine. If you are a lover of butter chicken, chicken tikka masala and naan then this will be right up your alley. However if you are looking for something that will remind you of the taste of home, this may fall a bit short of...

We had: Dhal Tadka (lentils) Hot Goat Rogan Josh Mild Vegetable Samosas as they come Mm! Mmm Mmm Mmm. You read all the reviews and you’re like, “this has to be friends and family…” IT’S NOT. This place is really just that good. Me and my mans are food snobs, and we LOVE Indian food. Yeah we Snobs about that too. Thanal and Ekta on 40th street being the best (and only) that we get after surveying the land. This is playing right up there with the big dogs. Interesting to see what will happen now that a new Ekta is opening in Manayunk… BUT FOR NOW, suffice to say, we’ll be riding our bikes down to Main Street on the regular 🙌💖🥹 P.S. That toilet paper in the picture??? When you say “Hot”, make sure you mean it…

Walking along Main Street and popped into Manayunk Indian Grille! Had a delicious meal. We started with the vegetable samosas, which were some of the best I’ve had. They were fried well and super flavorful, and the sauces that came with it were delicious. For my entrée, I got the chicken tikka. I mistakenly got this instead of chicken tikka masala, but it was still delicious. The lemon and onions added great flavor and the yogurt sauce had garlic in it which I enjoyed. Put it on some garlic naan = perfect bite! Atmosphere and service was lacking, but I assume this is a primarily takeout spot so I don’t count it against the rating. I would get takeout from here in the future!
