Inconsistent Braid Service
I got my hair braided by Florida a few times. The first time was wonderful, my braids came out really well and they were not too tight, the salon was nice and clean and it didnât take a long time. The next time, the salon (which is a small space) was cramped with two small crying babies and they blasted a religious sermon. I got my hair braided (same style) but it was way too tight, during my service I mentioned that the braids were too tight and she loosened up on one braid but then continued to pull the rest too tight. Unfortunately when you are in the chair you go a bit numb from the pain and it isnât always possible to tell just how tight the braids are until after they have finished. When I got home I had to take out two braids and ice my scalp which was red and very sore. I actually thought I was going to loose my hair.
Because I had a very good first experience I decided to chalk up the second bad one to a one off. I called to make another appointment and Florida stated that she didnât do twist, she only did box braids. When I told her about my experience with the pain from before she got an attitude and told me that I should have spoken up more. I stated that I would be ok with box braids so long as they werenât too tight and she said she would text me with her availability for next week. She never got back to me and did not reply to any of my texts. I think that the service is inconsistent and she also doesnât offer enough variety of styles. I would not recommend this...
   Read moreFlorida is a kind hearted, professional and did my boho braids the exact way I wanted it. She got me so pretty for my trip. Her timing was typical for the style and length. She listened to my needs and I enjoyed her conversation. Her space was clean, she was welcoming and I will always book with Florida. I got SO compliments for months in my braids and they lasted me 2.5 months. Women would literally stop me on the street, at work and in the airport for her information.
Thereâs a few 1-star reviews from a âdisgruntledâ client who was upset that Florida needed to break for a few minutes to eat. (This person made several accounts to disparage Floridaâs business) Braiders have to spend hours on hours standing up to make us pretty. As a client I often plan time to order food or bring food myself and make a day out of getting my hair braided and the LEAST you can do as a client is give your stylist the same respect in return.
Please ignore those weird 1-star ratings as itâs a rude and belligerent client who was extremely disrespectful to Florida.

   Read moreI called Florida nearly two weeks ago to inquire about getting my hair done for July 19th. On instagram it says a $50 deposit is required but when i tried to book my appointment it asked for nearly half of the service cost. So I called Florida to ask why that was, and she told me she would put me in her book manually, I asked her if I needed to send a deposit she said NO. We had multiple conversations through talk and text over days. So today I called to ask her what kind of hair I should buy for my service and this lady said she is booked for the day that we already confirmed smh. So now i have to find another braider on short notice, very unprofessional.
Update: Yes you were getting on my nerves because when i called you acted like you had no idea what I was talking about. It is a week before me getting my hair done and you tell me youâre booked and you canât do my hair, how do expect someone to respond? You take no accountability and youâre a bad business woman.
