The management of this Thai Bistro is terrible at best. The ‘new’ owner has never said hello to my husband or even greeted him during the entire time she has been there. She sits on her cell with an unhappy face and attitude. My husband was their best lunch customer, because he liked their Thai dishes. The owner looks and acts miserable. Often the place is near empty for lunch. When it is nice outside they rarely put out the outdoor seating because the manager, her brother, has the keys and comes in often only at dinner time. He recently had a stroke, and there is really no management except for the miserable unhappy & nasty owner. Today my husband finally asked her why she is so unfriendly. He was her best regular customer. She said that he should leave and not come back. Her loss. There is a double standard at this Chestnut Hill once upon a time gem. I won’t get into it, but it is not very nice unless u r a minority. It is likely why the patrons at lunch are almost exclusively NOT locals from Chestnut Hill. I suspect that the restaurant won’t be around much longer, as the place must be highly unprofitable with so many empty tables. My husband is friendly with one of the workers, and he said that the owner is mean and demeaning to him as well. She screams at him. The prior owner was a lovely gem of a person and great manager. She sold the place to move elsewhere with her husband. Since the sale the place has gone totally downhill. My husband stomped on a mouse that was in the dining room. He was nice enough to make no scene in front of the other customers. They are total ingrates. If you like Thai, go to 108 Fayette St. In W. Conshy. Much better & much more authentic Thai food, and the wait staff is the friendliest! Great Thai chef, great hostess, & service. IM husband’s opinion Thai Ku has seen its better days! Since we can’t eat there anymore, we’ll never know more or care. The owner will be even more miserable without our business. Often my husband is the only guest at lunch. You reap what you sow. In this business hospitality means everything. There is none with this miserable 😖 owner. She is in the...
Read moreThai Kuu's food is delicious - we love their spicy green curry, warm pad thai, and spring rolls (vegetarian versions) and pad pong karee seafood dishes. They are a bit pricey (update 2023: even more so & drives me crazy also to charge $3 for a standard small size of rice in addition to the costly entree), but portions are usually generous and often sufficient for 1.5-2 meals. We were delighted to support local restaurants via takeaway during the pandemic, but are often so frustrated by the lead gentleman at Thai Kuu. His customer service is abysmal, and it seems that they cannot handle their order volume in any organised fashion. We have had several orders just canceled, one about which we were never contacted and were just told 'sorry' when I drove to pick up. The gentleman (owner?) who answers the phone (often with a long wait on hold) and handles the take-away pick-up seems overwhelmed and, importantly, entirely unconcerned & a bit rude about his customers not being happy about canceled orders or something not being quite right as ordered. The chefs seem to be working very hard in the kitchen and consistently make wonderfully delicious creations.
Please improve your customer service and consider reducing your pricing, as we love your food and your chefs, but are extraordinarily disappointed in our interpersonal interactions with the Thai Kuu lead customer service and find that its relatively high cost for Thai food deters us from...
Read moreWe were a party of two for lunch. Our server was friendly and welcoming. We were seated immediately and our server told us about the daily soup special. I selected the veggie wonton soup. The broth was clear and the one veggie wonton was homemade and delicious. The only drawback would be that it was cold. The soup would have been more enjoyable if it had been hotter. My friend ordered the vegan yellow curry. It was a generous portion of fresh veggies and curry sauce, accompanied with white rice. My friend said it was tasty but wished it had been a bit more spicy. I had the Pad See Ew. My dish came very quickly, but was only lukewarm, so I found that to be a bit odd. The Pad See Ew had tiny pieces of broccoli and onions. I didn't see any bell peppers but it had lots of shredded carrots. There were small pieces of egg. They also included pieces of chopped kale, which makes the dish interesting. The Pad See Ew was tasty, albeit cloyingly sweet. I understand why some of their reviews mention the sweetness of their food. The atmosphere is cozy and intimate. Lots of on-street and metered parking. This restaurant is more of an Americanized version of Thai food. It's tasty enough for an American palate. The ingredients are fresh, its just not...
