Dollar General — Local services in Philadelphia

I honestly used to love this store! This was my go to store for a little bit of everything.. from household products to seasonal decor.. I shopped in this store at least 2-3 times per week. I honestly don’t know what happened but after they let go of a long time employee who was the absolute best (for defending herself from shoplifters) it really seemed like everything just went downhill from there! The last month has been absolutely terrible! All of the regulars that were left are gone and the new girl is by herself all of the time and because of the area and constant shoplifters she closes the store at different hours of the day and when she is there the doors are locked 90% of the time! I was able to get in there one time in the last month and it was 3pm in the afternoon I was in there 5 minutes at the most and she locked the door behind me and another customer when we left. The owners of this Dollar General really need to step up here and figure out what they can do to fix this issue because if not this site is definitely gonna close down for good! Very inconsistent with deciding when to open up store. After reading review below I certainly have compassion for employees that have to deal with inevitable theft because of the area the store is in. However it is up to ownership and management to fix this issue. I am certainly not and would not recommend taking a chance to visit this location anymore as it is a hit or miss when you will be able to gain access to the store to make purchases. It is conveniently located right off of i95, but if you cannot get physical shop at this location what is the use of visiting it? This morning was my last attempt to visit this store I will now take my business elsewhere to avoid waisting time. Hope this store fixes these issues for the sake of the employees job security, if you have now customers you have no business. Also I hope the issues are resolved for the neighborhood customers who rely on this location because they have no means of transportation to make it to stores...

If I could give less than a star I would. The service has become awful. I've stopped shopping here. Just decided to randomly stop in to grab something to drink. It was worse and I've called corporate many times in the last year. The shelves are empty though the isles are filled with merchandise that has not been put on the shelves. You don't know who works there because they don't wear uniforms. I have no clue who the manager even is anymore. There are safety hazards all over the store. Boxes all over the floor, ladders up and left open. It's impossible to even navigate. The cashier/manager/whoever that person...
