I have been a client at Modish for almost 5 years. I started off by seeing Rachel, however, once she went on maternity leave, I started seeing Linh for my dip and pedicure. The salon does not have a cancellation or rescheduling policy. After seeing Linh multiple times and tipping extremely well each and every time; I had an emergency and needed to reschedule last minute. I called to reschedule and within minutes of my call I received a text message from Linh which read "Hello Gina. My name Linh. Can you not make any more appointments with me. You call and reschedule last minute every time. So right now I don't have a customer and I lost money. Thank you" Those were her exact words. When I reached out to the manager, Minh, he was on vacation so I left a message with the young woman at the front desk who is only professional when the manager is on duty. I left a message and he never called. I called again a week later and he stated that the nail techs have the right to not service whom they please. Which it was communicated by another nail tech that this was NOT the case and it is rumored in the salon that Minh, the manager, allows Linh to treat clients however she pleases without any accountability. Minh begged me to return and he would have "something for me". When I rescheduled with Rachel, Minh did not even greet me or so much as offer an official apology face-to-face. I have watched Minh over the years cater to White women by offering them water and wine often overlooking Black people. I should have stopped going years ago but with the pandemic and things being closed for a while, I figured I would once again try them out. Not only was I a loyal client, but I also brought tons of business to this establishment all to be treated poorly. I can no longer support this business and urge others, especially Black women to look elsewhere where our dollars and voices matter. Ultimately after once again raising the issue with Jen, I was informed that I was given 10% off of my services which felt like a slap in the face as on average, I spend $220 dollars per month plus an additional $50 in tips. Not to mention all of the other clients that consists of family, friends and colleagues that frequent Modish as a result of my referrals, it ends now.
Also to further exhibit how rude and presumptuous the manager is; he made a comment to me about my daughter attending public school when she in fact attended private school. He said, "Oh your daughter is off today right, she goes to public school?" I asked him what would make you think that? For that he did not have an answer. Additionally, I communicated to him that I drive over 25 minutes to come to this salon and that my time is of the essence in that I need for my appointments to be honored. All in all, if what they say about Minh and Linh are true then I can see why he conducts himself so unprofessionally as the manager. Needless to say, I will not be returning and I have advised all of my friends and family not to patronize...
Read moreThis place has really gone down over the last year. I used to get top tier service so I didn’t mind spending a little bit more than competitors. But the last couple months have been awful. Inexperienced nail techs, overbooking, and a dramatic increase in prices. Took them months to actually update the prices on their website. It’s usually about 20 mins past the start of my appointment before anyone even comes up to me and I usually book the first appointment of the day. The nail techs can never find the color that I’m requesting. I literally had one tell me they didn’t have the color I wanted, I asked her if she could bring ones similar to the color I originally wanted and one of the options she brought over was the color I originally had requested that she said they didn’t have anymore. I got a re-dip done on my nails last week and none of my nails are even. They are so incredibly thin that they started cracking on the edges of literally every nail within 3 days. And if I wouldn’t have been on vacation, I would have gone back and had them fix them but now I’m back from vacation and it’s past their timeframe of error. So now I’m going to have to go back a week later and pay for a brand new set because their nail tech couldn’t do it right the first time. They usually put a clear acrylic powder on as the last step after doing the color and I noticed she didn’t do that this time. Not sure if that’s the reason they are falling apart or if it’s just because she filed down the top halves of my nails to be so incredibly thin but I shouldn’t have to return a week later to get my nails redone. Especially when dip powder is supposed to last longer than any of the other services offered. Pedicures also typically last a week before they start chipping away. It’s become not worth the time or money. I started just getting polish changes on my toes and that is $15 which is more than half of what a pedicure cost. A little ridiculous. Most likely going to be looking for a new salon as I can’t afford to spend $90 on my nails every other week because the techs just don’t care. Management also has a poor attitude towards someone who has been a loyal customer...
Read moreUnfortunately, the service for my wife and I was horrible today. We have patronized Modish Nail Spa several times for manicures and pedicures. Nina handled my pedicure today and has in the past. She is delightful to work with. My wife had Amy today who rushed through her pedicure. It was not relaxing at all. When she brought my wife over to the counter for the manicure, she just leaves my wife sitting there (with no communication). After 10 minutes of waiting, my wife is thinking that Amy will return for the manicure. My wife then approached the "manager" inquiring where Amy was and she tells her, "she had another appointment scheduled". Needless to say, my wife was NOT happy and stated, "No wonder she rushed through my pedicure" and expressed her disappointed to the "manager". The "manager" says nothing to my wife. Later she then tells my wife "oh we are working on getting you someone". Meanwhile the "manager" is just sitting there making no attempts to address a dissatisfied customer. At this point another technician comes over with an attitude to do my wife's manicure after waiting 20 minutes or so. By this time my wife was disgusted by the service and was ready to leave. I told Nina she did not have to finish my manicure but we would still pay. We paid full price for half service. My wife's pedicure was down in approx. 12 mins. When I started speaking to the young Asian lady at the front desk asking if the Owner was in, she kindly stated that he was not. I asked if there was a number to call him and the "manager" jumps in and starts addressing me in which I told her I was speaking to the young lady. The time to be a "manager" was when my wife expressed dissatisfaction with the service she received, not when I am speaking to someone else inquiring about speaking to the owner. The young lady gave me the name of the owner, Minh and asked for my phone number and she would have him give me a call. This is not the first we have experienced rude and unprofessional behavior from your so called "manager". We were told the owner Minh, will be following up with a phone call in which we will share more...
