Worst experience at a Popeyes ever.
Did a mobile order for two sandwiches, small fries and large coleslaw. Pulled through the drive through and no one was behind me. The guy told me to park and come in, the food wasn't ready. Not a big order and it shouldn't take but a couple minutes to assemble.
I have multiple handicaps and I'm on high flow oxygen. I didn't want to unload my power chair and wrestle with my other equipment just to pick up a meal which I should be able to get through the drive thru. I said I'd wait and pull around again. He insisted that I park and come in. I argued again and was told to pull up to the window. He told me again to park and come in. The manager then came over and asked what was going on. She was gracious and told me to stay put. BTW, there was still the ONLY car in line.
I watched as the guy pulled my sandwiches from a "warmer" where pre-made food was held till needed and put them in the bag where the fries and coleslaw already were. I was given my food and drove out of the drive thru lane. I then checked the bag and saw I was given a small coleslaw. So, I drove back around to the drive thru menu/speaker. There were now two vehicles in line. I told him I had just pulled out one minute ago and explained the problem. He nastily asked if I had the receipt, which I did. When I pulled up to the window, he acted like he never saw me before and asked for the receipt. He looked it over for a while and finally went and got the correct coleslaw serving.
Interestingly enough, he wanted the small coleslaw back. They should have let me keep it for all the aggravation especially since they cannot use it. They have to throw it out so why not let me have it? Oh well. So, I pulled away again.
A couple of minutes later, I opened one of the sandwiches. The filets are supposed to be very crispy. This filet was soggy. The coating was mushy, softer than Chick-fil-A's! It's obvious that the sandwich had been sitting in the warmer for a long time. So, I checked the other sandwich. It was just as bad. Probably the 4-5 other sandwiches that were left in the warmer were the same way! So very disappointing!
So, I'm left with two questions...
If the most difficult and time-consuming part of my order is the sandwiches and since the sandwiches were already made more than 45 minutes before, what was the huge hold-up that they needed me to park and come in? The coleslaw is also pre-packed. The ONLY thing that was fresh made were the French fries. The kitchen was so overwhelmed that a customer in the drive thru can't wait while a small fry is made ready??? Honestly, I don't think the problem is with how management thinks but it's absolutely how that "counter" person thinks and operates.
What's with pre-making so many sandwiches that the nice, crispy fried coating goes completely to mush before they are sold and why isn't anyone monitoring them to notice the quality of that pre-made food has...
Read moreCUSTOMER SERVICE: Generally, friendly and courteous staff! However, the wait in line is sometimes pretty ridiculous. Don't be surprised if you end up waiting 10-15 min for your order, even though it's fried chicken and that's pretty much the only thing people come here for.
ATMOSPHERE: Clean.
VALUE: It's Popeyes.
EATS: When the chicken is on point, it's good! For the most part, often times the chicken is tender and moist. However, there are times when it's overcooked and dry, perhaps only 4/10 times. On some occasions, I've been highly disappointed when I open the box after arriving home and realize that the pieces are awfully tiny and shriveled. As far as the taste is concerned, it's delicious. But a weakness here is their lack of consistency with the size of the chickens delivered to customers, which drives me crazy.
OVERALL: Would recommend if you're feeling the craving for fried chicken. They really need to work on their consistency though when it comes to the size of the chicken they serve customers. If it's indeed a tiny piece, just throw that thing out, don't serve it to a customer, they're paying for your food...
Read moreI've been going to this Popeye's since they opened in Roxborough. The food is good; it's the service that's always questionable. For a quick service restaurant that serves mostly chicken and a few sides they still manage to get the orders messed up most the time; that is if they even have the items in stock. If you come at dinner time there's a great chance they won't have the chicken you'd like ready and it's usually so short staffed that it takes a while for the meals to be prepared since the person taking the orders might be helping prepare the chicken as well. Recently I placed an order in the drive thru and of course I had to go inside for something that was forgotten. Once I got inside I see the manager taking the orders at the counter and also going in the back to drop fresh chicken. I can tell he was overworked, overwhelmed, and just over the situation when he threatened one of the associates that he would leave and that he (the young associate) can run the shift by himself. This place is often a joke but when I can get my entire order in a timely manner I'm usually more...
