I will never return to this place! Horrible Horrible customer service from the "Manager"! I only gave it one star because it would not allow me to post without it, otherwise they would have gotten ZERO stars from me.
On June 26, 2019 I visited the Philadelphia store on Orthodox and Castor. At that time I purchased an LED wireless speaker for $161. I entertain a lot and thought that this speaker would be a good investment for my indoor and outdoor parties, starting with the July 4th holiday festivities. The speaker was fully charged and placed outside. It did well for about an hour or so; then the speaker kept going in and out and did not return to full volume for the remainder of the party.
I returned the speaker to the store on July 10, 2019 in the original packaging. I was told at that time that there was a 20% restocking fee. I asked the customer service representative what a ārestocking feeā was and she told me that the restocking fee was charged to put another similar item back into your inventory; however, if I chose to buy something else, there would be no restocking fee. I told her, if her explanation as to the definition of a restocking fee was correct, the customer should not have to absorb the cost of restocking a faulty product, it should be charged to the manufacturer of the product. I then asked for the customer service representative to ask the manager to come speak to me in hopes of a more plausible explanation. At this point, and upon speaking with the store manager, I was considering purchasing the $279.00 10,000 BTU air conditioner so as not to lose my 20%. This is where my experience at NWL took a turn for the worst and convinced me to never purchase anything from them again.
The customer service representative used the store phone and contacted the manager who was physically onsite; however he was off the showroom floor. She explained to him my concern and asked him if he would come out to address same. The āManagerā refused to come speak to me and dismissed my request for a clearer explanation, leaving a customer service rep to tell me that he would not be addressing my concern or answering my question. I was appalled and disappointed at the lack of professionalism and customer service from a āmanagerā. I have never been in any wholesale/retail store and witnessed an occasion where a customer requested a manager and one did not come to address their concerns. Totally disrespectful and unprofessional. In my current job capacity with my Company, I am responsible for the adverse employment decisions for over 1300 employees and if ANY manager would have told one of our customers that he or she would not address their concerns, I would consider that failure or refusal to address the concerns of a customer, that managerās refusal to work and that manager would be terminated at the close of business. It's always good to pay attention to prices and make sure what's being scanned is the same as the prices posted on the products. At least 5 (minimum) products were scanned and because I was paying attention to the monitor I informed the cashier that what was being scanned wasn't the correct price of the product. She left the register on a few occasions to check the price and each time I was correct. A couple times she asked a co worker about a price and I was correct. This nonsense is very disheartening. I think they count on customers not paying attention to what's being scanned which is a rip off not to mention robbery.
