Was looking to purchase an 11 speaker system and had talked to them over the phone earlier in the week to understand if they could offer any kind of break buying it all at once. Was told to come on down to the shop to talk about it; totally good with that I like to meet who Iām buying from too. Made the 1.5hr round trip down there and while theyāre checking on everything another customer walks in donning mouth/nose cover (apologies for the strange wording, literally couldnāt share this with certain apparently banned phrases) None of us are wearing one, Glenn included. Glenn then quickly puts one on and tells me to wait outside while he works with the customer who just walked in. Look Iām vacksed (again sorry), Bstād, and all about following store policy if the store wants me to, but I didn't have one on me. Maybe keep a spare box of coverings for customers if youāre fake worried about it. I really could not believe it when he asked me to step outside and wait while he worked with the customer who just walked in 10 minutes after me.
But cool, I was pleasant, no argument from me, and said sure Iāll wait outside and started walking to my car in back; Iāve got one in the middle console. It was such a messed up demand that the customer who walked in with the thing on actually felt bad for me and ran outside to tell me heād wait outside while we finished up. Thatās a cool guy, respect to him! So I go back inside and he gives me a price thatās actually higher than ordering off the manufactures website direct. To top it all off he tells me that if I have any issues, the system is mine, no returns, because ātheyāre hi-fi music shopā. Youāve gotta be kidding me. What a waste of time and terrible clueless customer service. Will...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreComing from the days when Brick and Mortar Hi-Fi shops used to be more plentiful and bigger this was a let down. Sure I knew the store was small and this is not a ding but the lack of available gear to listen too was disappointing. Only one set of speakers and one amp running in a very small listening room. The place has more of the feel of a Pawn Shop with tons of used gear lining the walls and shelves. If it were not for the quality of the used gear I would have marked it lower, but the gear was all top notch very high end stuff. Pros- lots of very high end used gear available. Access to purchase very good high end brands new, but may not have item in store to see or listen too. Friendly own/operator. Seems to have a loner policy. Cons- Not much new gear on hand, so probably have to order and wait for package. Very, very small listening room which felt old and outdated. Hard to get an idea what the gear you want looks like and sounds like before purchase. Oh and very small, so don't bring...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf Diagon Alley had a shop for audiophiles - this would be it. The shop is curated by the owner from top to bottom with bespoke devices and audio curiosities that no one is able to resist. I needed their help installing a new cartridge on my Rega turntable and they swiftly navigated the installation (which would have taken me forever if I could have done it at all). Post the installation, they ensured the balance with a digital scale so the needle would ever so perfectly anoint a vinyl and unlock itās sound. Watching the process was like seeing a watchmaker at Patek Philippe craft the beauty of a timepiece.
You should also know just how nice they are. In my brief interaction I was left inspired and with a true āsense of audio magicā sent home to enjoy my...
