We were in the neighborhood and craved for sushi. Yama was pretty much the only open sushi place around 4pm, and had very good reviews. Didn't know until we seated, but they were also offering happy hour with lots of items to choose from. We seated immediately. Only a few other parties were having their late lunch/early dinner like us. The restaurant itself was nicely decorated. I like the ambiance. The host and our server were nice and friendly. They provided their regular menu and the happy hour menu. Besides the sushi, they also offer udon and rice dishes. I just didn't like that some of the sushi rolls didn't have any description in it, -just the name. We ordered squid salad, a hot night roll from the happy hour, and a Viper roll from as one of their special rolls. Squid salad was a boom!! We loved it. The texture of the squid and the dressing had a perfect combination, and it was only $5. The portion was also generous for the happy hour. Hot Night Roll was so good. As I was expecting it was hot, but not overly. A perfect touch of spice. Well, if you are good with spice lol This could be my favorite roll if I didn't try the viper. Viper Roll; omg. It was warm, which gave very nice feeling after I ate squid salad (cold), and hot night (also cold). Eel was so tasty. Didn't feel it heavy as some places do with the eel. I would like to have it when I come back. Overall, the fish tasted fresh. The restaurant was cozy and clean. The price was very affordable. That could be a neighborhood gem! Btw, we didn't have any parking issues when we arrived, but feels like parking might be an issue during the dinner rush.

It’s a hidden gem! The food is amazing! That was our second time there. The only downside is the lack of parking.

Yama Sushi House – The Cure for Broken Hearts and Writer’s Block There are two things that can fix just about anything: sushi and best friends. So when I found myself battling a broken heart and a wicked case of writer’s block, my bestie knew exactly what to prescribe — a sushi date at Yama Sushi House. Honestly? I didn’t have high expectations walking in (because when life hands you lemons, it usually forgets the sugar), but Yama turned my whole evening around. The food was absolutely delicious — special shoutout to the Kani Salad, which I could have easily (and shamelessly) eaten by the gallon, and the Scorpion Roll, which was just the right amount of indulgent without needing to immediately text my therapist. The staff were lovely — genuinely kind, attentive, and the kind of people who make you feel like maybe, just maybe, life isn’t out to get you after all. They kept our drinks full, our rolls coming, and even pretended not to notice us dramatically recounting our dating disasters over edamame. The only downside? Parking. It’s a little limited, so bring your best parallel-parking game (or a healthy sense of humor). But honestly, when the sushi’s this good, a little parking struggle is just part of the adventure. Final Verdict: If you’re nursing a broken heart, a creative block, or just a stubborn craving for really good sushi, Yama Sushi House will have you feeling full, happy, and maybe even a little bit hopeful again. 10/10, would risk bad parking again.

Wanted to check since it newly opened, so I brought my friend to treat him. I ordered a Gyudon for my friend and a Katsudon for myself. The waitress repeated the order but she was almost whispering and I was talking to my friend so I wasn't really paying that much attention. But apparently I should have. It takes 20 minutes to get food and she serves a Gyudon and a Donkotsu Ramen. Okay. I told her this wasn't my order and she brought it back to the kitchen, saying she will get me Katsudon. I didn't really think it would take 20 more minutes since they screwed up the order and if you rush it, it should NEVER takes 20 more minutes. You NEVER cooks the food like you JUST got the order from the customer. So I told my friend to start first but my meal is not getting served. ANOTHER 20 FREAKING minutes. She didn't check if my glass was empty or the food is okay for my friend.

Okay it's busy Thursday night at 7PM, let's give her a break. But seriously, the food. Really? First I am Asian. I'm not a big fan of CALIFORNIAN rolls, which most of snobby people would think as cool food, but I know what Japanese food should be like. But this Gyudon and Katsudon is never what I expected. The beef in the Gyudon, I don't even know what part of cow it is. They put too much ginger in the food and all you can taste is just ginger and the fat from the beef with salty sauce. The amount of the food isn't impressive either. Now the Katsudon, jesus Christ, who serves Katsudon in a flat plate? And what about the amount? The meat was thin only size of my palm. Mediocre taste and over-priced.

I don't necessarily wanna blame the waitress only on everything. But there are DEFINITELY not enough staff to cover the tables. I saw them running around and the other table getting served every 15 minutes. I don't know what the hell is going on, but they should really change the way they run A RESTAURANT. I assume the restaurant was busy not because the food was good but because it is on Groupon. And there were only 2 Asians out of at least 50 customers. And you know...

For a brand new restaurant, the owner sure doesn't treat customers like he wants them to return. Beware of the shady practices here! The first time we ate here, we used a "$25 Worth of Food for Two or More" Groupon. Although the total was less than $25, they said tax wasn't included and we had to pay for that separately. That was strange because I've used dozens of Groupons and never needed to pay for tax. Okay, fine. But it gets worse.

The 3rd visit, my boyfriend used a Groupon (the same one). At the end of the meal, they explained that it only covered sushi, so the chicken dish wasn't included. Obviously this was confusing since the Groupon said "$25 Worth of FOOD for Two or More." We asked if they could make an exception because the title was misleading and the manager came over to say that no, they wouldn't because in the fine print (the very last sentence) said it was only for sushi. What he could do, was let us order another sushi roll. (Um, duh. We were under the $25 amount). He did make sure to mention that since we didn't tell the server beforehand that we had a Groupon, he didn't even have to let us use it at this point. What?? So, we asked for the last roll to-go. He explained that we couldn't do this because he wants guests to enjoy the experience in the restaurant, not take food with. Ridiculous! We did sit down, we did experience the restaurant, and now we wanted the last roll to-go. Ugh.

Any reasonable owner would have made an exception since the Groupon title was confusing, but instead his unreasonable and unsympathetic attitude has made us swear off this place for good.

(By the way, that teriyaki chicken definitely cost less than the sushi roll, so it would have been in the restaurant's best interest in terms of profit/cost to allow...

Very bad communication misleading i formation and worst customer serclvice.Yesterday we went to yama sushi at 9 PM for their reverse happy hour, before going I called their place around 8:30 PM to ask if they still do reverse hour to which the man who received the call confirmed that they do have it and it starts from 9 until 10. We reached the restaurant at 9:15 and said we will order from reverse happy hour, to which the server(lady) told us that they only happy happy hour and we can only order from general menu. We informed her that we confirmed before visiting and she went and asked th emanager the manager agreed to give us the prices for happy hour menu. A different server(another lady) came and she said she can take our order now we gave our order list and she said we do not do happy hour and we stopped it 3 years ago(which is a lie because we ordered the rverse happy hour 2 months back). we informed that we were told by the manager otherwise she went to confirm and then said that manager said no. Really upset as we were told yes on phone and in person by manajust to drive all the way and get different answer. Seems like the staff needs to communicate properly with eachother and they need to know there policies. Would I go there again no as I can never go to a place that doesnot provide correct details to customer. Very disapppinted and frustrated as we used to go there 3 or 4 times a week and will now never be there as this place disappointed us not because they did not give reduced price but because they gave wrong information and lied in front of us. The manager needs to be changed as he doesnot what to say and how to talk. Really...
