Bashas' — Local services in Phoenix

This Bashas has gone down hill. It seems they got rid of the employees that liked their jobs and kept the ones that think you inhibit them from doing their job. One cashier is so rude I avoid her. Last time I went to her, I started to put my food up on the belt and there was no one in front of me. She smacked her gum and chewed out "Bashas card" I said "Oh could you find it for me while I unload my cart?" She turned her head away and stuck out the gun to read my card. I said "can you help me please." She put the gun down and put her hand out just in front of her and again turned her head away. I said here you go and reached as far as I could from my cart and she wouldn't even reach out the 4 inches to take them from me. She just stood there chewing her gum like it was cud. Smack, smack, smack! I finally fell over trying to reach her and dropped the keys. When she picked them up, I realized that was the last straw for me. I said give them back please. She said why, I said I forgot something. Which I did. I forgot I promised myself never to get in her line EVER! As it turned out, I bought 2 bags of cranberries, both were more than half rotten and a box of famous wafers that were rancid!! 2 important things that were missed at my thanksgiving do to poor quality control and frankly a lack of caring on the part of the staff. There are one or two guys that I go to when I can find them for help. Even the manager is curt and unfriendly. I told him once as I was leaving the store, that he should go look at the produce because there were a lot of bad fruit and vegetables. He snapped back " Where! Come show me!" I said I don't have time, but look at the cucumbers, the celery, pears just look around! " I don't think he did. I find better produce at the dollar store! They don't put out cucumbers with wrinkled ends and soft spots. Or celery brown and splayed ends. Pears full of nail marks and rotten spots. Tomatoes and potatoes with mold... I shop elsewhere now. I may go back for a good sale on meat (usually good) or canned or frozen stuff. But, I drive right by to go somewhere I am...

I take full responsibility for my own negligence. Yesterday afternoon I left my cell phone in a shopping cart. Within 7 minutes someone found my phone, turned off location and the device. I called the store within 4 minutes of realizing what I did. I called the store from my spouses phone and asked if anyone turned in a phone or could they check the cart that was left at the front door. They didn't find it, again my own fault for leaving it. When I asked the manager if they could review the cameras at the exit, I was informed they don't have cameras and the 1 at the door is just a decoy. He said "A bunch of homeless people were just in here and probably took it". How does a store in 2023 not have live cameras? This would have saved me a lot of trouble chasing this person around for 3 hours with my phone. It wasn't a homeless person either. The phone was tracked to 10 different places within1 hour, 18 places total. The person who took the phone was in a car. Unfortunately I did not get it back. Luckily I have full coverage insurance on my device and have my replacement arriving tomorrow. Again, I take responsibility for losing my own phone, but a camera could have got me a license plate number for my police report. Due to this unfortunate situation, I won't be returning. I'm sure it is no worry to a company like Bashas, but I've shopped in this store for several years and purchase party platters monthly. I'll have to drive to Safeway or Frys...

Needed to waste time so I stopped here to get some food. Went to the deli area to get some chicken wings. I was never greeted or told “I’ll be right with you” the lady working just looks at me a few time from the kitchen area I assume. Then decided to help me whenever she was ready. Starts bagging the chicken wings and it looked like they were all the tiny ones. I asked if I could see the ones she picked, because there was a few others that looked better. She ignores what I said and just dumps the chicken back in bin like she had a attitude about me saying something. She picks out some other ones and I went about my business. Need I say more ? Won’t return to this store.

Maybe she had a bad day I don’t know. We all go through things but if I’m spending money at an establishment the least I expect is a pleasant hello...
