If I could give less than one star I would. This has turned into one of the worst shopping experiences of my life. I walked into this store and was quoted a price on a bed frame and mattress. I then paid for the price that I was quoted, for a bed frame and a mattress set. On the day that it was scheduled to be delivered the driver had a tire issue and needed to reschedule. This kind of thing happens, I get it, and they said they would discount the delivery cost by 30%. I didn't think I should have had to pay for any delivery at that point but whatever I wanted my furniture. Less than 30 minutes later I get a call from Ray, the salesperson, informing me that I was misquoted on the price of my bed frame. At first, this sounded great, perhaps they had charged me more on accident and where going to refund me what I overpaid for. But no, to my great irritation, I was informed that I had been under quoted. Ray then proceeded to say I owed them money. Last I checked, I did not quote myself for the price of the bed frame, nor did I use some Jedi mind-trick to cut the cost of the bed while paying for it. They set the price and charged me the price they said. End of story.
But no. Ray said he needed to check with his manager to see what could be done about the situation. The manager calls me and tells me that Ray DID make a mistake but that I still owe them more money. I, again, had to explain to the manager the stupidity of the situation. I HAD NOT SET THE PRICE OF THE BED FRAME, their product, they did. I am a customer, who walked into a store and purchased a product in which they set the price. The manager said it was their mistake, again admitting to the mistake, but that they still needed more money. The price of the bed frame was $1375 and they wanted another $200 dollars out of me. He said he would take $150 off. So...the other $50 they still wanted me to pay. No thanks! The people working at Ethan Allen, 7000 E Mayo Blvd in Phoenix, Arizona obviously have no idea what they are doing. They are void of common sense or any higher brain functionality that evolution has given us. If anything, I feel badly that evolution has skipped over them like it has.
To sum up, don't shop here. You'll probably have to deal with the same people that I did and you should save yourself the headache and buy from a company that knows...
Read moreWe purchased a 2nd home in Scottsdale in August 2018. We immediately purchased some essential furniture, but wanted to nicely furnish the living room and the dining room. We looked in many stores before arriving at Ethan Allen, but were not inspired. In late 2019, we walked into the Scottsdale Ethan Allen store and met Haley. She was immediately warm, helpful, and not pushy. We told her that we didn’t really know what we wanted, but we wanted to furnish our house with high quality, stylish, yet simple furniture. She walked with us through the store, and by listening to us she determined what styles we like. We had no clue what colors to choose, other than I wanted a white sofa and the colors for pillows, accent chairs, etc., had to compliment a painting hanging above the fireplace in the living room. Those were her sole directives from us. From that point, she took over, showed us furniture, color swatches (which some were very intimidating to me). She came to our house, took measurements of the rooms we wanted furnished, and utilizing the digital program, she showed us a 3D rendering of our house with the furniture we picked together. We were thrilled. I’ve never used an interior design consultant before, and I’m so glad Haley helped us. After the furniture was delivered, Haley came to the house and brought accent pieces (at our request) that would complement the furniture. Her taste and her keen eye for color/texture was perfect for us. And as an added bonus, the delivery of the furniture was punctual and very professional. We are so thankful to Haley and Ethan Allen for helping us furnish our house. We smile every time we come home. It was the most fun my husband and I ever had selecting furniture, and we owe it all to Haley. Forever grateful for her expertise, and we appreciate...
Read moreEthan Allen's prices were always high-dollar, but the quality of furniture was always commensurate with price.
It appears, in 2018, that may not be the case.
This is the first time I have been in an Ethan Allen store in 18 years. I expected the relatively high-end prices (as they were 18 years ago). However, I was not expecting a reduction of quality at today's higher retail prices.
I specifically looked at nightstands in the $600 to $800 price range. I was very surprised to discover none of the nightstands I saw had drawers with gliders. Also, in the same price range, none of the drawer corners were joined with dovetails.
Well, 18 years ago, it was not uncommon for a 6 to 10 week delivery date. However, the made-in-America quality was worth the wait Therefore, I was astonished to discover a 12-week delivery date for Ethan Allen furniture that is probably no longer made in America.
Long story short: I left the Ethan Allen store and went to Costco in Scottsdale. I found two excellent quality nightstands — with drawer glides and dovetail joinery — for the great price of $199.00 each.
Of course, I had to load the nightstands into the back of my Expedition and unload them at home. But, the dollar savings was worth it, because....
A) I didn't have to wait 12 weeks for delivery;
B) I spent just $400.00 for TWO excellent quality nightstands, instead of spending $1,200.00 for two lesser-quality nightstands at Ethan Allen.
I'm not saying Ethan Allen doesn't sell nice furniture. But, I am saying there are better options for saving money and still buying excellent...
