This museum is located in the auto dealership area, and there's a small bit of parking in front, including accessible spots. Looked like some other spots to park at behind too. Surprisingly this small museum was quite busy even on a Sunday. It is free admissions and a great pit stop if you're in the area or getting your car services in one of the dealership spots nearby.
Inside, when you first enter, there's a set of stairs to your right (these are closed off on the weekends, there's only a cafe upstairs). To the right of the stairs are some photos, a TV playing and on the stairs are just some photo/artwork related to Penske racing. From there, the main highlight of this place are the actual race cars. There's about 4 or so sections of them. They are grouped together and parked together. Next to each are a small "caption" sign with a blurb about each. At the far end, there's the what I believe historical brick sidewalk and then some displays of the engine part used in these cars. They also have a display of a trophy by a car as you walk further up front. It's nice you get to get up and personal with these cars. The area was quite small and I spent less than half an hour here - and you could speed through all of this in 10 minutes. I did appreciate though the front desk being so welcoming and the area is well maintained. They also do have restrooms and...
Read moreAdmission is free, and for good reason: there’s only space for 14 cars. That said, if you have any interest in American Motorsport, it’ll be great to be in the presence of such awesome, moving metal (that all runs and drives once fluids are put in!)
Cars do occasionally rotate out so refer to photos from most recent times to get an idea of what’s still around. That Porsche RS Spyder, for example, has spent a couple of months at Penske’s restoration facility to keep Roger Penske’s collection of cars in top running condition for continued showcasing.
The great thing is that the racing museum is directly attached to the adjacent Ferrari/Porsche/Bentley/Rolls Royce/Lamborghini/JLR dealerships. Those staff clearly know you come from the museum and they respect that as long as you respect the expensive metal for sale that you can walk around. So while there’s only 14 cars in the museum, you can augment that experience by walking through the corridors to the dealers next door to see an Huracán STO, Porsche 991 GT2 RS, Rolls Cullinan, Ferrari SF90, and then some.
I drove 40 minutes for this. It was worth it for a car guy like me. For the kids? Well, it’s a bunch of race cars old and new, so hopefully they get excited and not too hands-on for static metal where the joy is the presence more than anything.
Will come back next time...
