Cedar Market stocks a large amount of ingredients to prepare Lebanese, Syrian, Turkish, all Middle Eastern, and some Eastern European meals.
The refrigerator case has assorted Arabic cheeses and dairy products including Lebneh which is what Greek Yogurt should taste like. In the freezer case, there are a few meats, sausages, prepared Kibbe, filo doughs, etc.
You'll find amazing fresh bread (pita) in both thin and thicker versions and in a range of sizes delivered fresh from a relative's bakery several times a week. It's commonly called Syrian Bread by people raised eating it.
There is bulghur wheat in bins in the middle of the store from tiny to large grinds plus very coarse versions in bags on the store shelves with so very many additional items of jars and canned foods. There are teas and coffees and the Turkish pots in which to brew it. Bins of bulk spices are available along with bagged herbs and spices.
Many varieties of olives as well as hummous, babaganoush, tabouleh, etc. are in the front case and there's a nice assortment of desserts too. And if you are lucky, there's some spinach and meat pies on the check-out counter waiting to take home and be gently heated and enjoyed with Lebneh. In fact, we eat Lebneh with just about everything but salad and dessert.
You can order a number of sandwiches or take-out meals at the front but remember that this family also owns the Cedar Grill Restaurant a few doors west which is a really good little cafe for either sit down or take-home meals. You can order, go back to the market to shop, and then pick up your prepared food to devour at home with some of your market goodies.
I truly hope you will try this and other ethnic markets here in St. Pete and...

Read moreMy friend said that the hummus here was much better than anything in a grocery store. Wow was she right! For $3.50 you can get a pint of the best hummus you have ever tasted made by the experts themselves. They also sell a pita bread that is so fluffy and weightless from Sami's bakery. They have Dolmas... Grape leaves for a quarter a piece. So it's hard not to get 4 to 8 of them each time I go. But one of the best features is also the huge ripened red red local tomatoes. Don't miss out on these as they are great on your hummus...
