I recently moved into a new apartment and needed an inexpensive washer/dryer set. I spoke to the owner of a used appliance repair/sales business in Largo that is highly rated and he suggested I look for an older Whirlpool (or one of their brands). He urged me not to buy anything with solid state electronics and a hint is to try and find a washer that doesn't shut off when you open the lid! However, he was not keen to deliver to St. Pete, so he suggested I try Suncoast. He had no experience with them but felt they had some good products.
So, I returned to St. Pete and stopped by their retail store. The father showed me what they had from Whirlpool and I selected a matching washer/dryer set at a reasonable price. The sale included free delivery and installation, one month warranty for service and parts. The warranty would continue for an additional 11 months but I would be liable for parts.
The son delivered the units the following day or so and he was cheerful and answered my many questions. He offered that most of his repairs were the result of overloaded machines (too many clothes jammed in the machines) and broken switches from people slamming the dryer door or washer lid.
A month or so went by and, I confess, I tried to make two loads into one. The washer handled it OK, but when the dryer was running I heard the belt snap. The motor kept running, but the drum would not. I phoned Suncoast and spoke to the father. He said someone would come the following day, phoning me in the morning to advise of the time.
The son came the next day and fixed the dryer in short order with a new belt. I had had the dryer then for more than one month so I fully expected a charge for the belt but he said not to worry about it and it was "no trouble." I don't know what else you could ask...
Read moreMy ordeal started 3+ weeks ago when my old but great stacked W/D broke down. After a failed repair from another company, I opted to get a brand new one at a mega store. Bought it one day, it was delivered the next, and 2 days later they had to take it back to save my sanity. Didn’t know that ALL new stacked W/Ds are now computer operated. It was a pure nightmare for me, having a washer do what IT thought I needed, … when all my life all washers and dryers did what I wanted THEM doing for ME! Good older stacked W/Ds are not that easy to find in good condition. At Suncoast they had ONE which was just what I was looking for and I “grabbed” it quickly. Staff there is knowledgeable, friendly and the store is very clean which is important to me. It was delivered as promised and the 2 delivery men did a great job at installing it as well. Thank God this lengthy ordeal is over for me, and I have to give Suncoast Appliances a much deserved 5 stars. Thank you for my lovely stacked W/D , and the pleasant experience I had with...
Read moreTerrible / Defective Products Sold As New... Horrible Follow-Up Service! Bought multiple products from them, 2 of the 4 haven't had any problems... Yet... The two that did, they did a quick fix for one (crappy quality) and the second one was supposed to have a part ordered. Nick NEVER ordered, never replaced, would not return ANY of the 4 phone calls. Sadly, I had to report them to the Better Business Bureau, and to the company of the product's manufacturer, who graciously replaced the damaged piece, and took all the information of this CRAPPY, so called professional dealer, who they said was NOT authorized to sell / repair their products.
DO NOT use them to purchase ANY products, I'm sorry I did, Nick talked SO badly about Home Depot, and yet ANYTHING I've ever bought from Home Depot that needed replacing or repair, they have done so quickly and professionally. STAY AWAY FROM SUNCOAST APPLIANCES! I agree with all the 1-Star...
