I go into this store regularly and have never had a bad experience until just a few days ago. Go to check out. Had a good amount of things I was going to purchase.$100 worth. Once I am done unloading I see my 2 small children had taken off the tags on a few items. So I put them in the counter thinking she can match them up with the item by the colored tags. But no the lady tells me she can't sell me the items because there is no tag. I tell her it's right here. And she refuses. As I am waiting for her to finish checking me out I get to thinking. All I have are children's clothing all about the same price. Shirts are one price pants are another jackets another. Then they get discounted by how long they have been there with another color tag. And so forth. The lady at the check out has been there many years I'm sure she knows the system. They get everything donated meaning free. Why is it such a huge deal the plastic color tag was still on the garment and I had the paper tags right there. The plastic tag matches the paper tag color. So change me the price for that color tag in children's clothing. It really just heated me to the point I had to leave without anything and I will not go back...
Read moreI rarely frequent thrift stores in my area anymore. It's my opinion that the employees pillage the useful and "great" stuff before the public can purchase whatever could be purchased. This store is no different. Clothes selection is usually untouched. I know that these folks pick up from PINSON and some surrounding areas, where one could find some treasures. You don't see much of it in this King's store. The one prior to that was much worse, and it was no secret that this pillaging was being done. In light of this, your best bet is to get outta PINSON and CENTER POINT and head to Hoover's Goodwill. If you're in the market for real quality stuff, you may pay just a little more, but their store is absolutely neat and clean and you don't have to hunt for really nice furniture, music, or just about anything else. It's worth the 30 minute drive from Trussville...bring money coz you'll find a tremendous amount of merchandise you'll probably want. Off Highway 150 towards Bessemer, but 5 minutes off Highway 31 in Hoover.
Sorry King's Home Thrift...but even varied visits yield the same kinds of stuff that the public can lay their hands on. Do better for your customers, though I don't see that...
Read moreI upcycle unwanted sweaters and have about 5 different thrift stores (this one isn't included) that I go to. The prices are HIGH. I thrift shop a lot more than anyone I know and make runs to thrift stores at least once, maybe twice a week. All of the long sleeve shirts are grouped together. So that means hoodies and blouses and sweaters are on the same rack NOT SEPERATED. The items are also crammed so close together that you cant even see what you are looking at without take the hanger off the rack. Extremely disappointed because this is the closest thrift store to my house. If they have a sale like most stores do, you have to ask the employees what the sale color is. If they could make a few changes, this store could be really nice, but...
