I brought my engagement ring and two wedding bands to Pitman Jewelry for resizing. I needed to get two cut off there because my fingers were swollen.
Once my fingers returned to normal, I returned with the rings to get them resized. The woman who helped me looked at my rings and sized my finger and wrote everything down.
I returned about a week and a half later to pick them up and was told one of the small diamonds on the band of my engagement ring fell out and that they replaced it. No one from the store had called me prior to pick-up to inform me a diamond fell out or ask if I wanted it replaced. The saleswoman who sized my finger inspected my rings closely and did not mention there was a diamond missing.
I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of communication as well as frustrated that I was expected to pay for a brand-new diamond without warning. If they had informed me prior to pick up I could have made the choice to replace the diamond at a different time.
I paid the total bill and left the store feeling totally taken advantage of. I didn’t want to cause confrontation while I was there, that’s not who I am, so I just paid and left because I felt I had no other choice. My marital rings are so valuable to me for so many reasons and I felt I just needed to pay and get my rings back home with me.
I am writing this review to alert other potential customers about my experience in the hopes they don’t allow it to happen to them. Please use caution and be mindful when having this store work on...
Read moreI went in to have a couple rings appraised. There were 3 customers ahead of me, all being waited on by 3 salespeople. I waited only a few minutes when one customer was served and done. Rather than being acknowledged by the sales person, they walked away from the counter without giving me a glance. I wasn’t in a hurry, but being completely ignored when I was obviously standing there waiting for help was rude. I waited another few minutes for the next salesperson. When she was done with her customer she walked right by me, didn’t say a word or look at me and went in the back as well. Feeling a little irritated and disrespected, I waited a few more minutes thinking one of them would come back to help me. Finally I peeked through the doorway to the back to see one woman sitting down and the other not visible. Consequently after being complete ignored for about 10 minutes I left. I grew up in Glassboro and worked in my family business in downtown Pitman for more than 10 years. This jewelry store has always been my go-to. Not sure if it’s new employees, they have so much business they can afford to ignore waiting customers or are just disrespectful and rude, but that’s the last time I’ll go into this shop. I can’t really recall ever being completely ignored by not just one, but two employees in a space so small you couldn’t not see a customer if you tried. What a...
Read moreI run a contemporary jewelry business and wanted to transition to making my designs in the USA and working with small local businesses. I never had experience with custom engraving which is something my customers are always asking for. I contacted the owner and asked if we would be able to do small scale engraving for some of my pendants. He was super nice and helpful and said that was something his business could do. After a few months of doing business with Pitman Jewelers the staff in the front grew to be very rude and unpleasant. Several times making comments that made me feel uncomfortable. I did NOT feel like a valued customer here. Even my poor mother went to pick up an order once and got the wrath of one of the ladies. Such a shame because the owner seems to have better customer service. If it wasn’t for him, I would give this business 0 stars. Anyway, it was a blessing in disguise because I found another great jeweler who is now engraving hundreds of pieces for me in a short amount of time. And my customers are stoked that I have finally have engraving...
