PEOPLE DO NOT DO THEIR JOBS!!!! If you want to be ignored, waste your time and grant money then this will be a good choice. If not, consider going elsewhere. My son (Freddie Zaragoza) started here right out of High School in 2018 then Covid hit. As a result he had to do his classes online. Everything was going ok at first but then the classes he needed for his major (Computer Science) were not available at LMC. Their counselor's advised my son to go outside LMC to LA JC system and he did. He remained in school for the next two years online tracking to graduate with four majors in 2023. He was in his last semester. Then as he reached out to ensure everything was in order, he was told everything looked good at that point. Then he was told he didn't meet their requirements for his degree and that in order to get his main major he would have to take an in person Biology class (for Computer Science?!) and other classes that were not part of his original curriculum. We no longer lived in Pittsburg and he had to work full time in order for us to be ok. So clearly, this was not possible We both, at this point reached out to several people to see if any exceptions could be made as my son was misinformed about the conditions of his majors. He was not told that if he stayed outside of LMC system there would be changes in his requirements. We reached out to the admissions office who told us it was outside their abilities to make changes, he filed an appeal in which was ignored. We reached out to the President, no response, the school board, no response. He then had to make a decision to just move forward and started with an online University to pursue his BS degree in Computer Science that he just finished. Meanwhile, he was still trying to reach anyone who could help him to receive the degrees he worked so hard for despite MANY challenges over the last couple of years. IF, he managed to speak with someone, they shuffled him off to someone else and the end result was/IS the same. NO RESPONSE back. He even had his transcripts sent over from his current university to see if any of those would meet the requirements they are requesting, over six months ago with NO RESPONSE! Just as of the last two weeks he reached out to the STEM major Dean and actually got a response from their secretary who requested more information, he gave it -then was completely ignored, once again! He has left emails and phone calls for a follow up, NO RESPONSE!! This whole experience has been the most frustrating experience we have ever had. People simply do not do their jobs. No accountability at all. Not answering students is unacceptable! They have gotten paid for all these years and left him floundering, and ultimately had to take on student loans to get his degree elsewhere. And to add insult to injury he is...
Read moreThe experience of getting an "Education" at this institution leaves much to be desired. I have gotten my education and quite a bit of experience from this place and in my time I have seen:
-Lazy professors -Unethical Administrators -Dean of Equity complaining about how her office isn't big enough -Terrible education (When a professor makes you watch a 30 year old documentary and calls that an adequate representation of modern happenings, professors simply telling you to use Quizlet, Professors telling you that you are poor now and will always be poor, professors telling the students that she believes they are selfish animals, Professors brining their personal lives into class, Professors being petty, ETC ETC) -.Abrogating their motto "We Care About Your Success!" They serve themselves only and work to perpetuate their administration. We are merely statistics for them to use to accomplish their selfish goals. -People in Student Government having sex in the "Honor Center" -Students moral being low -People in Student Government who steal from the school each other among other illicit activities... -The School funding silly building projects rather than doing things to materially better the lives of the students. -Having workers laugh about how they poorly put together gym equipment that costs well over 10 grand -hearing Professors say they are overwhelmed and can't help you -Having the Administration Straight up LIE and then Obfuscate any responsibility. -Student News Paper: When I dealt with them they proved to be self-serving hypocrites. -The campus police turn a blind eye to the vagrants who pollute the area with their filth and drug paraphernalia: They even burnt down a section of the Lake a while back, because they where living in Marshes. They have since relocated to the bushes on the border of LMC and the Trails -Trails just outside of the school are an easy route for drugs, crime, and opportunists.
I am glad to be done with this part of my life, I luckily have taken other college classes in other Universities; thus, I was well suited for the free for all LMC offers its students. With that said i have seen many Good people come into LMC and walk out with nothing to show not because of some fault of theirs but because of the wretched environment and culture perpetuated at LMC by the ADMINISTRATION...
Read moreI went here on and off from 2001-2010 (was working full time and took time away to study for nursing elsewhere), but I ended up graduating with honors in May 2010. Like any college campus, there are always the few that can make it bad for others, but overall, this college has a lot of great instructors (Out of the many classes I took, I'd say just a handful of the instructors could have been better). I watched the college change a lot over the years that I was there. I always thought I may be back for old times' sake after a year or so to just wander the grounds or check on my favorite ducks in the pond, but I actually have not been there since I graduated! Crazy how quickly time flies! I hope to pay a visit to see all of the new changes taking place and maybe catch a glimpse of some of the teachers I remember (some are since retired or left). Thank you, LMC, for providing me with a good foundation and teaching me to be a better and always improving student. I may look at the college with rose colored glasses, but I am proud of...
