2nd visit Review —————————- Had a really disappointing experience at Outback Steakhouse. After a bad visit last time, someone from the restaurant reached out, offered a credit, and encouraged us to try again. We gave it another shot, but unfortunately, it turned out to be even worse—both in food and service. I ordered the same dish, Grilled BBQ Chicken with seasoned rice and sweet potato, but the chicken was once again undercooked, there was no BBQ sauce provided, and instead of seasoned rice, I was served broccoli without any explanation. On top of that, they didn’t even bring out the complimentary bread that’s usually part of the meal. Not sure if this happened because I mentioned the credit beforehand, but either way, it was very disappointing. We had spent around $75 the first time, and this visit was about $30 after applying the credit, which they did honor. Still, the overall experience was so poor that I have no intention of returning. On the other hand, Texas Roadhouse across the street has been exceptional in every way, and I’d rather spend my money there. Honestly, I wouldn’t come back to Outback Steakhouse again—even if the food was free. Sorry to write such a harsh review, but this is my genuine personal experience. 1st visit Review —————————— Visited the Outback Steakhouse in Ann Arbor. The complimentary bread was warm and tasty to start with. I ordered the grilled chicken with seasoned rice and a sweet potato as sides. Unfortunately, the chicken was very tough and not enjoyable at all. On the brighter side, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and there’s plenty of parking available. My friend ordered a Long Island Iced Tea and an $8 cocktail – the iced tea seemed pretty good. I definitely prefer the texas road house.

The Good: our server was great. Super kind. Super attentive. She was busy and kept our drinks full and gave us updates. The Bad: We ordered 2 Filets medium rare, one a 6 oz and one a 8 oz. It took FOREVER for it to first come out. We must have waited 30-40 minutes for our main course. Again, they were busy, so whatever we understood. But when our steaks came out, the 6 oz was rare. Point blank. Just rare. The 8 oz was cold. A little undercooked but cold. So we kindly asked to get them cooked right. Again, the server was awesome. She apologized and brought them back. The chef and/or manager came out said new ones were on the grill. Then those came out 5 min later. We cut into them and both were rare. Like rare. Toasted the outside of the steak and left it rare. We decided to just call it quits. Asked for the check and left. We weren’t trying to cause a scene. We had already been there over an hour and half. They obviously could not cook a steak medium rare, so we decided to just cash out and leave. I think they need more training in the kitchen. Our total bill was $175ish. So we didn’t even get a credit of anything.

This Outback is actually horrible, have given this place multiple undeserved chances. To start the Gluten Free menus don’t include prices on them which is very predatory to people with medically necessary Gluten Free diets. Our server Erica either was or seemed to be drunk. She took 10 minutes to simply bring us water while she was in eyesight sitting at a booth eating what I assume was the joints family meal, full on putting fingers in her mouth (multiple times throughout the service) so I pray she washed her hands after each time. Silverware and water glasses CAME DIRTY. Asked for replacements but they also came dirty, not water spots either CAKED ON DRIED OUT FOOD so obviously their dishwashers don’t care. Didn’t receive some items ordered but still charged for them and also charged for sides despite menu stating each steak came with 2 sides with no up charge stated, was charged $27 per steak for 3 ribeyes that were no exaggeration HALF JUST FAT. I get ribeye has a higher fat content than other steaks but 50% of the steaks being JUST FAT is criminal I just wish I took pictures. we ordered the Brisbane chicken Caesar salad (which sucked), which maybe they add oil/vinegar to it but if not the caeser dressing tastes rancid. To its credit the steaks and potatoes were pretty good which should be the BARE MINIMUM you can ask of a steakhouse. For all the mistakes our server offered multiple apologies and a free dessert which was like putting a band aid on a gunshot wound cuz after that when it came time for the check it was $130 all for her to then all but demand a tip which then just cancelled out the free dessert. Of course we still tipped cuz we’re not trying to be jerks and what if it was just an off night for her or something and my assumption is wrong? But I overheard the booth right behind us complaining about some of the same stuff as us, such as the server (we had the same one) not checking on them, long waits and/or incorrect items. I told the server about having celiac disease but here I am still sick almost certainly from cross contamination which is a mostly kitchen issue not a server issue (as long as she washed her hands) which just further goes to show this place sucks. Others in my party suggested multiple times to just up and leave but I wasn’t trying to make a huge deal about it but I regret my decisions now. I could keep going but I think this is enough. The ONLY REASON that I gave this place another shot is because the Texas Roadhouse across the street had a 30 minute wait but god do I wish I just waited. They’ve never neglected their customers as far as my experience goes, happy to check on you frequently, and goes out of their way to make sure you’re happy by even insisting to take back and remake food if it’s not to your liking. Not to mention their portions AND quality are better for roughly THE SAME PRICE. So do yourself a favor, if you’re thinking you want this place, you don’t. You want the Texas Roadhouse right across the street even if there’s a wait because IT...

Avoid. Received 2 raw steaks in a row. Dinner started with a waiter setting a serrated bread knife down right in front of our 12 month old, mumbling something unintelligible and running away. All the service staff were literally running. They must be short staffed. Going to the bathroom was treacherous - navigating a narrow passage involved playing a game of chicken with an aggressive waitress. My husband said another waitress was tailing me through the same passage on the way back, hovering a few inches behind, starting and stopping, and looking annoyed. When dinner arrived, my husband's steak was seared on the outside but blue and completely raw and cold on the inside. He had ordered medium rare. They offered to remake, so we accepted. The second steak arrived about 20 minutes later. The waiter and chef hovered by anxiously. I guess they were right to be anxious because the replacement was raw inside as well. Everyone else was done eating and the baby was fussing. We sent it back and asked for it to be taken off our bill. My partner was hungry and furious, went to the grocery store after we got home, bought a filet and grilled it himself at like 9pm. They probably had the grill turned up too high, maybe because they were short staffed and running behind, but it backfires if the steaks are coming out raw. I forgot to mention they served him a mangled looking top sirloin both times when he had ordered filet mignon. We also had to move the baby to a different spot because the waiters kept coming up behind the baby and serving food and drinks over his head. Totally oblivious and in too much of a rush to notice.

The waiter was very apologetic and they did take his meal...
