I know this is long and very wordy, i tried to shorten it as much as i can while explaining the full story and being completely honest. If needed, I have proof of majority of these arguments and information that I was told today by her.
I went in April 9th to go have my prom dress fitted. I wanted to take about two inches off the bottom, shorten the straps, and fix about an inch in diameter circle of the sequence in the front. After figuring out what to get fixed, she asked for me to come back in to pick it up in two weeks on April 23rd, I told her that wont work but I can pick it up on April 30th instead, and the was the date we BOTH agreed on. Mind you, this was 135 hours for her to fix my dress, according to her open office hours on google. She then called me on the 30th (the day I was supposed to pick up my dress), saying she needed more time. I told her I can come in on May 3rd, the second date we both agreed on. So I come in on the 3rd, she has me try it on, I love everything about it and I think it looks great. But according to her, she doesn’t like how the thicker bottom part stands up, and says she’s going to fix that again, even though I told her multiple times that I loved how it looked. Apparently it wasn’t up to her standards, so I told her that she’s the one that’s been doing this for a living so if she thinks it looks weird then she can fix it if she really wants to, and she did. The third date we decided on for me to come pick it up was May 6th.
I come in today, my dress is done. She brings it up front, I go to pay, and she tells me it is $350.00. Obviously jaw dropped I call my parents (i cannot afford a random $350 expense- i’m still in highschool and I play sports). They too also lose their minds about the price. They ask her why it’s so expensive, and she cannot give them, nor me, an exact reason and explanation with preset prices. Mind you, nowhere in our 3 visits and almost month of working on my dress does she give me an estimation in price. While yes, every dress is different and she doesn’t know how long it’s going to take to fix mine, I still had absolutely no estimate for a payment. No, I did not ask for one- which yes I should have when I first went in, but even if I did when I went in the first time, after the information I was told today it sounds like I wasn’t going to be given one either way. She told me that it took 5 hours to hem my dress- out of the over 135 hours that I had given her. This means that she charged $70/hour to take some of my dress off and add at most 30 sequence back on. She also told me that she doesn’t actually know how long it took to fix my dress, she just guessed around 5 hours. I told her that she probably needs to put a timer on to figure out how much time she actually put into fixing an article of clothing, and she yells at me to “stop telling her how to run her business”. I know it’s not that simple and I’m not her only customer, however for what little she had to do in the ample amount of time given, added an extended amount of time, $350 is absolutely absurd. So my dad stands up for me and starts asking all sorts of questions in a stern voice over the phone, and she can’t really answer any of them. She then quite literally just walks off with my dress and takes it back into her hallway where her work rooms are. I had to wait until my mom got there with $350 in cash because SHE DOES NOT ACCEPT ANY SORT OF CARD. SHE ONLY ACCEPTS CASH AND APPS LIKE ZELL/CASHAPP/PAYPAL. So my mom brings in $350 in all one’s because if she wants charge me $350, she can count up to 350. The lady that works there (never actually told me her name so I’ve just been calling her “she/her” this entire time) tried to get my mom’s money out of her hands before giving me my dress that is still god knows where in the back of the hall.
Long story short, I do not by any means recommend going here if you’re not okay with going in blind and not having an estimate on how much you’re going to...
Read moreUnless you want your garments held hostage and the police to get involved, i wouldn’t recommend this place. I never received a quote for the MINOR alterations i asked for and when i called a few days later to ask about pricing she quoted me $650. She was insisting she needed to do extensive reworking to my wedding gown because she didn’t find it to be flattering on my body. I declined her recommendations and she refused to give me my dress back. I offered her $200 to stop working on it and give it back to me unfinished so i could take it somewhere else and she THREW MY GOWN ON THE FLOOR, stepped all over it, and locked it in a back room then proceeded to throw a temper tantrum like a child. She screamed at me for almost an hour as I calmly tried to come to an agreement with her just to get my dress back. I never refused to pay for the work that was completed or threatened her in any way, despite her claims. I was simply not paying $650 for work that was not done and that I did not ask for. Which in my opinion as a customer was completely reasonable of me. Given that there are multiple reviews from people claiming they were assaulted by this woman, i was scared honestly. She continued to get escalated when the police arrived, still refusing to return my garment to me. Plainfield Police told me they are there very often because this happens a lot apparently!!! During the arguments she called me fat, poor, uneducated, and even racist. It was all around a nightmare and she still ended up getting $350 from me for work that wasn’t completed. A week before my wedding. Additionally, she only accepts cash or venmo payments. I did some research on her and it turns out her wages are being garnished due to excessive small claims cases (i would assume for similar issues) and court fees that she still owes. These court cases go back to 2015 when she was working out of Marion county, you can view them on My Case her name is Hye Kim. Extremely shady. She is a scam artist. Do not use her services under any circumstances, you will regret it like i do. I hate to bash a small business owner, I love the community in Hendricks county and i frequently shop local but I can’t bear to see someone else go through what I did so I’m...
Read moreI needed 5 pairs of scrub pants hemmed & I came to Jinu Alterations on Monday October 16. I was wearing one of the scrub pants & the person behind the counter came around & pinned the cuff of my scrub pants to the proper height. I then changed in the dressing room & gave her all 5 pants. She looked over the scrub pants & told me she would charge $15 per scrub pants to hem them for a total of $75. She gave me a receipt for the pants, but did not tell me the price could go up. Nor did she mention she did not accept credit cards. I came back on Wednesday, October 18, & was surprised to find she had tacked on $3.50 per pants for a total of $92.50. When I asked why, she said there was considerably more material to hem then she originally expected. What's more, I would have to run to the bank for cash because she didn't accept debit or credit cards. I went to the bank & returned with the cash. I asked her exactly why the cost went up. She got incredibly defensive & angry. She claimed that my pant cuffs were twice as big as other cuffs & I told her I didn't see how that was possible, she pulled out another customer's pants from the stack to compare. It's true that my pants cuffs were bigger, but no where near double the size. I also pointed out that she got a good look at the size of my pant cuffs when she pinned them 2 days before. How could she be surprised at how much material there was? Why would she quote me $15 per pants when she saw how big they were? She got even angrier at this & said she had been distracted by the other customers in the shop. When I pointed out there were no other customers at the time I was there, she upbruptly threw up her hands & said she take the $15 per pants. I told her 'no, I would pay the price, but I would give her a bad review.' She blew her stack then & called me a 'very bad man.' She tried to find out who I was & what my occupation was, but I refused her the information. I gave her $100 & she gave me back $2.50 instead of $7.50 she owed me. She then told me to leave her business. I gathered my scrubs & left. I was getting in my car when she charged up to me with the $5 she owed me. I told her to keep it & she threw it at me & charged back into...
