My fiancé and I purchased an engagement ring on Oct. 22nd. I almost walked out of the store because the owner made an unnecessary remark said to us when he was frustrated his grandson given us a 20% discount after we missed the 50% Anniversary sale (originally we looked at the engagement ring the next day). We paid cash, and the ring needed to be resized. The first time resizing the ring, it was a little loose, twirling around my finger. My fiancé and I went back in on a weekend. We asked the jeweler and sales ladies to look at it. Everyone agreed the ring still needed to go down in size so I would not lose it. The second time I picked up my ring, the resize was not done well. My band had been thinned on one side and was not round any longer(more octagon shape). I didn't want to go through a 3rd time resizing, I wanted to wear my ring. I finally went back to Mason's to speak with a sales associate. She agreed the ring needed to be repaired. She would personally speak with the jeweler who sizes the ring. I specified not thin out the band and ask for the band to be built backup. I picked up the ring this evening, a shank was added, which I fully understand, but there was an area of the band thinned once again. I am frustrated with the service I received. The first time we shopped for the ring, the grandson with out knowing dropped his door keys on the sidewalk in front of the store, my fiancé went outside and saw the key ring and gave it to the associate, he asked if they belonged to anyone there. When we purchased the ring, we only wanted to shop local. We didn't feel the need to shop "down the street" as the remark was said. We haven't had a great experience. We love what we chose together. To Mason's, it's just a sale. However, it has meaning to the purchaser. Just be cautious when dealing with Mason's. It's hard to say what your experience may be. The enclosed photo is the resizing my 18k white gold ring. In addition to the owners response..First, I have not even got to wear my ring a consistent 3 weeks since I kept sending it in to be corrected. Second, This what the owner now calls a used ring, which in their store they call them Estate rings which was in perfect shape, the band was not worn down in any way, shape or form until it was resized the second time!! Everyone including the owner praised this beautiful ring! Third, I offered to pay the 3rd time for a correction, of an circular mounting had become an octagon mounting the associate clearly saw the issue, more than said it needs to be corrected on Mason's end. Fourth, I took it to a Northside local upscale jeweler who stated the correction was unfinished. Fifth, Once I get my ring back I will submit pictures on a job well done! I am from a 46 yr old family owned business never would we treat our customers as done here! Bottom line, Masons states the sizing is included when the ring is purchased. If this was done correctly the first time we surely wouldnt be where we are at today!!!!! Please let your grandson and sales associates know as customers do walk out of your business and they start talking amongst themselves about a dissatisfied customer. The customer can clearly see this in the front glass of your store. I am going to the Better Business Bureau as well. On 1.17.2023 I added a photo of a proper repair of my ring from a Northside local jewelry store.,...
Read moreBefore going to Masonâs, I had only been to big-name Jewelers. I picked my wedding ring out at a big company and remembered the experience of feeling rushed and pushy, but I figured that's just how it is. WellâŠI found out today that not all Jewelry stores are like that.
I bought my wedding ring seven years ago, and after some kiddos, my ring âshrunkâ or my finger grew - who knows! đ Either way, it was stuck, and I tried every YouTube video out there to get the thing off! I never could.
It got so uncomfortable I caved and decided I needed to have it removed. I couldnât picture going into the big company I bought it from and asking them to remove it because they always seemed annoyed when asking to clean it.
So, I called Masonâs in hopes they could help me out. Andy (please tell me I got her name right - she was awesome!!) answered the phone and was sweet as ever. She allowed me to come right in - which was the first shocker.
I walked in and was greeted with smiling faces. We tried some trade tricks to get it off and eventually decided we would attempt to cut it. Andy was so sweet! She made this embarrassing situation comfortable for me, and we shared some laughs.
No exaggeration here - I felt like an aunt or a good friend was removing this ring. Thatâs how kind and goofy the whole thing was. She wasnât annoyed at all. She made me laugh and feel cared for.
After removing it, I was told to wait a couple of months to have it sized again and fixed. I just stood there for a second - I asked whether there was anything I needed to do now. You know, like PAY for the removal service or give her my ring?? Nope!
She wanted nothing from me. She didnât want me to be uncomfortable anymoreâŠ.so she removed it. I can guarantee 100% my experience would have been different at a prominent name place.
I have a warranty at my big-name company, but I know I will never step a foot in there again. Any piece of jewelry I need to buy, whether for myself or family/friends, will be at Masonâs. Jewelry quality includes the persons handling it. The ring can be beautiful, but I learned the people selling/fixing it could be too.
I look forward to the gifts I will be buying there this Christmas and many more. Sorry for the long read - but I just HAD to...
Read moreMy in-laws love Mason Jewelers and purchased me some lovely sapphire and diamond earrings a decade or so ago. As a person who wears almost nothing but blue, they are my go-to pair for any nicer occasion.
Also about a decade ago my husband (then fiancé) surprised me on my return from a trip to Ireland with my mother with a silver Claddagh ring he had shipped from Ireland and waiting for me when I came home, engraved with the date of our first date. That and my wedding ring are the only two regular items of jewelry I wear. Some time ago I slammed my hand in a sliding closet door and flattened the ring on one side. I had continued to wear it but over the years it has been trickier to get the squished ring on and off. I finally mentioned it to my husband and he said we should see what could be done about it.
We walked into Mason Jewelers and in less than three minutes I had the ring back in hand, rounded out again. I definitely expected to have to leave it and pick it up another time, but no. When we asked what we owed the lady at the counter graciously said, âNothing.â
Iâm not much of a jewelry wearer but weâll never go anywhere else for ourselves or our three daughters when we are inclined to purchase something. Phenomenal and generous service, with no pressure to purchase or even look at anything in the store. Though if my one year old that was with us had anything to say about it weâd have gone home with all...
