I hope this reaches anyone that is interested in the esthetics program at this location. I enrolled in the Esthetics program at Collin College with the understanding that I would be graduating in August 2025. Just two months into the course, in January 2025, we were abruptly informed that the building housing our program would be shut down — and instead of graduating in August, we now had to complete the entire program by May 29.
This was not a minor adjustment. To make up for the lost time, we were told they would just add extra hours each week, and that we would be responsible for teaching ourselves all the textbook content at home. This sudden, drastic change completely disregarded the commitment and expectations we originally agreed to when enrolling.
To make matters worse, shortly after the “accelerated” program began, our instructor quit, which we believe is due to her not agreeing with the school's unethical decision. Since her departure, we have essentially been left on our own. While our new instructor tries her best, most times she tries to teach us a protocol we are left more confused than before. We were also told we needed to spend all our classroom hours taking clients (essentially generating income for the school), or doing treatments on ourselves. Many of us resort to YouTube to teach ourselves how to perform certain treatments. This is absolutely not what we signed up for.
Despite cutting the program length by several months and stripping away the educational structure, the school still expected us to pay the full tuition. Even worse, they accelerated our payment plans, demanding we now pay off the same amount by May instead of August, the original graduation date. No adjustments or accommodations were made, and there was no transparency or consideration for how this would affect students.
This entire experience has been frustrating, stressful, and disheartening. The program has failed to deliver the education, structure, and professionalism it promised. I cannot in good conscience recommend the Collin College Esthetics program to ANYONE. Their fancy new building in fall of 2025 will be nice I'm sure, but the chaos you will have to deal with is...
Read moreThe school is nice and clean. I went here for their Dental Assistant program. Let's start by saying that my teacher was awesome, she was super nice, chill, and helpful. However, the class... Not so much. It was a 13 week program classes where twice a week, for 3 hours. We had NO labs, Instruments or mannequins to practice on. We had no hands on, the only way we even saw the instruments was because our teacher brought them from her work to class to show us. The textbook was included in the cost, and we did go over the whole book, but the fact that there was no hands on is what REALLY hurt! We would watch YouTube videos, and read over material in the text book, and have the teacher talk about her everyday life in the office... but that's it. I've been struggling trying to find a job for months now... with NO luck. I don't have enough skills for someone to want to hire me without having to go through the whole training process with me, so I've decided to go back to school for Dental Assistant at ANOTHER school here in the DFW area. I loved Collin College for my Associate Degree, but their Dental Program... totally disappointed. I even talked to the school after I graduated if they could help me find a job or refer me to a place more willing to train... nope. They didn't have ANY Information that could help me.. I would suggest anyone who's looking at going here to keep looking! Find another school! It's...
Read moreThis place has the most annoying financial aid process ever!!! They ask for things no other institution has ever asked for. It’s ridiculous. The website is constantly outdated and the complete registration process is a joke. I don’t understand what they do here and why they require so much personal information. My financial aid has already been approved yet I can’t register even though I have no holds on my account and they are requesting w-2s. Why? I’ve already given you the transcript. The process takes too long. I’ve been trying to register for at least 1 year, I miss deadlines because they always come back asking for ridiculous documents and the website isn’t very informative on deadlines, it’s usually outdated. They need to do better. I’m required to gather up all of this info that I’m sure they don’t need in order for them to give me financial aid that doesn’t even come out of their pockets, then the least they could do is keep the website updated and process things accordingly. Stop giving me the run around. Get it together because it’s starting to...
