Pros: Nice front desk, friendly staff, decently stable wifi, fairly clean room on first inspection.
I'll get to the cons here shortly, but I'd like to take a moment to vent here. Upon my first night staying here, I noticed that the walls were fairly thin. No big deal, people usually go to sleep around 11-12pm anyways right? Not these delightful neighbors it seems. They relish in staying up with their TV blaring alllll night long. Luckily I came prepared with ear plugs; but yet, I could STILL hear my neighbors TV. OK, maybe it's just me being sensitive hearing at night. LUCKILY I have a pair of BOSE Noise Cancelling Headphones that I ended up putting on OVER my ear plugs (turned ON playing Headspace Sleepcasts). Problem solved for Night #1. Skip to my second night stay here. Not only is the TV blaring yet again, but this time neighbors down the hall seem to have just gotten back to their rooms around 1am. Mind you, I have to wake up at 7:30am for an appt tomorrow. I ended up waking up after only sleeping for an hour, to a LOUD, YAPPING dog. OK, I get it, it's a pet friendly hotel, and they're trying to settle in, right? No. They stay outside in the hallway to continue chatting, with the dog continuing to yap, for the next half hour. At this point I've called front desk to please quiet these neighbors, which they seemed friendly and accommodating to do. I am now here, typing this review, wondering how I'm going to fall back asleep for my 5 and a half hour drive after my appt tomorrow.
Not only will I actively avoid pet-friendly hotels now, but I will never stay at a La Quinta again. I cannot believe how irresponsible people are with their pets, especially with their dogs blatantly barking at ANY hour of night. I deliberately train my dogs to not do this out of respect for others. I guess that's a dying art here. I want to give the benefit of the doubt here - maybe due to the Texas State Fair happening there's just a lot of people out of town here. But in ANY case, when is it ever OK to be this loud late at night?
TLDR Cons: An outlet near the desk in the room was not working. Barking animals. Rude neighbors. Thin walls.
I hope others staying here have better neighbors than I did. You've...
Read moreWe have stayed at a lot of La Quinta’s in multiple states. This is our second unfortunate stay at this location. The first one was in 2017. The reason we have them rated a 2 instead of 1 is because the desk staff really tried to be accommodating during that first visit. We had a suite reserved and it had a broken sink. They tried to have it fixed and allowed us to stay in another room while they worked on it. We had the suite because we planned to have family hang out. When they learned that the sink wouldn’t be fixed in time, they offered us two rooms for the night at no additional charge. They were really trying to accommodate the issue. It was over a long series of hours that this went on though. There was also a caravan of kids that was running up and down the halls that were unsupervised and the police had to be called. It was kind of a rough stay.
This time, we got into our room and it looked fine at first. I sat down in the desk chair to put my tennis shoes on. When I stood up, I had women’s panties stuck to the back of my shirt... yuck. They did not belong to my wife and were clearly there before I sat down (pictured below). Then in the shower there were a number of hairs hanging and laying in multiple spots.
A couple of the hairs looked like they weren’t from someone’s head. It was just awkward and uncomfortable. I travel a lot and have never had this issue.
The desk clerk offered to get us another room on the same floor but clearly the same person cleaned the other rooms on this floor as thoroughly as they cleaned this one. We asked if we could possibly have our points back for the stay. It was about 11K points for this hotel. She so “graciously” gave us 1K points for our discomfort.
It’s gross but after working overnight shifts and being up for about 24 hours straight, it would have been nice to not have this issue. I’m pretty sure we’re done with the La...
Read moreWe stayed here 11 to 16 July, visiting from Australia. We had to make a booking to check out 17 July as I wanted to arrange a half day rate until 6.00pm on the 16th as our flight home was 11,00pm however the hotel insisted that we pay for the additional day.
The Good
Deborah checked us in and every time I saw Deborah on the front desk she always acknowledged me and said hello. Thanks Deborah - you really made us feel very welcome.
The room was nice, two double beds, very comfortable beds, and room to put clothes away. The bathroom was clean and the bathroom linens were first class. There was a small desk and lots of USB ports to charge your phone etc.
The elevators were very slow, and we just ended up taking the stairs and we beat the elevator each time.
The foyer is a nice area and the breakfast served each day was very good. Great coffee.
The grounds are well maintained your access key is required for the entries other than the front door.
The Bad
The hotel needs to have some security given the four incidents I witnessed during my short stay.
Upon arrival we were greeted by a police car and a crime squad car attending to some issue at the hotel, I joked to one of the officers about the hotel being safe, however she was too busy taking off her crime scene gloves to answer.
On two mornings when we were having breakfast we observed a homeless couple helping themselves to breakfast and then taking it outside to eat on a bench which the hotel has on the eastern side of the hotel for smokers.
On our last day at the hotel we arrived back to be approached by a very upset and unstable woman leaving the hotel, again a police car was parked at the front, and as we entered the policeman was confirming with the staff that ' she had been asked to leave' so I assume he was referring to the woman I had met minutes before.
Security guard at the front door would...
