I normally love going to Deal Grabber, but I just had the worst customer experience here. ā Two days ago I came here and purchased two large furniture pieces, one of them being a tripod floor lamp. Halfway through assembly, I realized it was missing a large screw and some sort of locking mechanism inside of the leg. I looked in the box, through all of the packaging, on the floor, everywhere. I looked to see if I had any other screws lying around at home, but I could not find a similar one, and without the locking mechanism, it wouldnāt have mattered. Sure, I couldāve gone to a hardware store to look for both of the parts - but I really didnāt want to deal with that. Normally whenever you buy a product, especially a piece of furniture, you expect or at least HOPE that all the pieces are there, and I get that this is a wholesale liquidation store, and the products can sometimes be customer returns from the original store, which is why there may have been missing screw originally. I wasnāt really mad about the screw, and I didnāt want to put that much time an effort into looking for another one, so I decided to just go back to the store and return the lamp. BOY WAS THAT A MISTAKE!! The cashier that helped me when I bought the lamp was very nice and told me that Deal Grabber has a 3-day return policy, but only for boxed items if they have missing parts or are damaged - all of which apply to my purchase. She assured me that they inspect products before selling them, but if anything happens, I can return it.
** Tonight I went to Deal Grabber with the lamp and receipt. A woman came to assist me, and I proceeded to tell her that it was missing a screw and another part, and that Iād like to return it. In return, this woman looked at me and straight up said, ā¼ļø ā I donāt mean to offend you or comment on your intelligence, but did you think to get another screw for it?ā ā¼ļø I gave this woman the most dumbfounded look. I was pretty upset at her comment. I tried to explain to her that it was some sort of allen wrench screw and I couldnāt find anything in my house to just easily replace it, and that the leg of the lamp could not be attached together without those pieces and I didnāt want to bother with going to look for parts at a store. Despite my ālow intelligenceā, she processed the return for me, anyway, and assured me that it would be back in my account within three days.
I wasnāt really upset that the lamp was missing pieces, especially since I knew that I could go back to the store to return it, but what really upset me is what she said to me. I donāt think in any universe it is appropriate to make a comment on someoneās - let alone a customerās - intelligence. A lot of times, youāll hear people say the words, āno offenseā, and then theyāll quite literally say something offensive after itā¦but it doesnāt change the fact that itās STILL OFFENSIVE. Just before I left I heard the same woman tell another worker that if there really is just a screw missing, if she can find one to replace it and put in there, then do it. Honestly, it wouldāve been nice if they had offered to give me replacement parts if they just so happen to have a supply of them in the back or something - that wouldāve given me a positive outlook of the business, but they didnāt. I assume theyāre going to try to find replacements and then just put the lamp back out for sale.
I get where this lady was coming from when she said what she said, but honestly, thatās something that you keep to yourself, not actually say it out loud to a customer. Because yes, DUH, I thought about getting another screw, but when Iām buying a product from a business - especially after I was told that they inspect all of their products before re-selling them- I usually hope that what Iām buying is going to function. But it didnāt, and thatās okay. I got my refund, no big deal. āļøWhatās NOT okay is the attitude of Deal Grabberās employees. If youāre so against giving me my money back for a faulty product, or donāt want to go through the hassle of processing a return, donāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really like the concept of the store but am A little frustrated. Most of their open box items are marked clearly when there is damage, which I really appreciate! I spent $25 on an air mattress marked āusedā. I searched the box thoroughly and made sure no damage was reported. Unfortunately the air mattress has a huge hole on top. I really needed this air mattress tonight and am exhausted and left with no where to sleep. I donāt expect a refund and realize I took my chances with an open item but with the gaping hole on top, I would have expected you guys to notice this before selling. I tried my best to mend it with what I had with no luck. I do appreciate that you guys try to mark your items with what damage they might have, but just ask that you be a little more thorough. Especially with items such as this that are completely useless with any holes. No amount of glue or tape can hold an air mattress shut š«. Iām so sleepy and this is going to be a rough night but I hope my review makes you look at these a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMade an honest mistake & bought a humidifier instead of an air purifier. Blonde woman at the cashier so kind. But im assuming the manager was so so rude. We asked her for store credit when she was not allowing us to return the item. She was willing to give us store credit but was so incredibly rude. I just told her about our mistake & why we were returning & if we could exchange for an air purifier. The manager cut me of as I was trying to ask her the question & very rudely told me next time pay attention to what I am purchasing. Donāt work retail if you as the manager canāt show good customer service be more kind like the cashier. Do appreciate for the store credit but next time be nicer to customers. You couldāve explained your return policy a lot nicer &...
