I believe in reviewing businesses based on my unbiased personal experiences. Itâs never my intention to ruin a business reputation, but to make them do better. I have indeed revisited some businesses I previously had a bad experience in, and observed significant improvement in customer service and, in turn, changed my reviews. There are businesses that pop up in a neighborhood and are willing to serve ALL the demographics in that neighborhood, and then there is EPIC market, Plano. If you're not of Middle Eastern descent, they treat you with borderline hostility. From mumbling explitives in Arabic to poor customer service and everything in between. They assume that because you are "different", you don't understand Arabic. My review is based on 5 visits to this store. First visit they were very new, so gave it a pass. Second visit was at a very busy time and I could see the staff was overwhelmed trying to serve all the customers, so I didn't make a big deal. Third time, the guy who was cutting my meat chopped it into little pieces instead of sections as instructed, and when I raised an objection all hell broke loose. From insults in Arabic, to tossing my order aside and started serving other customers completely ignoring me. I spoke to a guy who introduced himself as the manager and he apologized, fixed my order and promised they'll do better. Fourth time they were talking real nasty about an Indian customer who was ordering before me and saying really awful things about his community. Then there was today, I requested for 5lbs of goat meat. They didn't want to be bothered and kept saying to pick from prepackaged meats which were not the quantity I wanted. Finally a guy served me but not before they had a few choice words to say about me. The customer ahead of me of Middle Eastern descent had ordered the same but 3lbs, and had been served without a peep! Even when she requested lean meat (which is hard to do with goat). I find this a very hostile environment to shop if you are not from the "intended" customer base, especially for Indians and blacks. They should put up a poster indicating so, so we don't bother them and take our...
Read moreI donât usually write reviews, but this time I feel compelled to share my experience to warn others. My wife just endured what was undoubtedly the worst customer service sheâs ever experiencedâspecifically at the meat market in this store. Sadly, this isnât the first time sheâs had such a terrible encounter, and I wouldnât wish this treatment on anyone.
To summarize, during a previous visit, my wife placed a medium-sized order at the meat counterânothing complicated, something that shouldâve taken no more than five minutes. Instead, she was met with rude, degrading comments from the butcher, ignored for an hour, and made to feel completely dismissed. She eventually had to complain about this individual, hoping for better service in the future.
Unfortunately, todayâs visit was even worse. The same individual recognized her and seemed intent on being as unprofessional as possible. He greeted her with smirks, dismissed her attempts to speak, and openly laughed with his coworkers while she stood there waiting for her order. He claimed he had her order but let 30 minutes pass before another employee finally asked her what she was waiting for. Only then did she realize this person and his friend had deliberately ignored her order, finishing everyone elseâs before hers.
Adding insult to injury, she still had to wait even longer because the butcher in question decided to go off and do other tasks in the back. This behavior was not only unprofessional but a complete disgrace to what customer service should be.
When I spoke to the owner, while he was apologetic, his solution was disappointing at best: he suggested my wife avoid the meat market staff entirely by placing orders with the women at the cash register instead. Frankly, thatâs not a solutionâitâs an excuse to tolerate poor behavior.
Whatâs most disheartening is that weâve recommended this store to so many of our friends and family in the past. But after these repeated incidents, none of us will ever set foot in this store again. I hope this review serves as a warning to anyone considering shopping hereâyour time, dignity, and money are better...
