I had a mostly positive experience at H-mart, but unfortunately, one of their cashiers left me feeling frustrated and disappointed.
On June 24th (Monday), I completed my purchase only to have the cashier fail to provide me with my receipt. I notice that she was in such a hurry to end her shift that she must have accidentally missed pressing the button or maybe the printer just couldn't print it out - either way, I didn't receive my receipt.
To make matters worse, when this cashier asked for help from Moon in customer service, they spoke in Korean and left me wonder what was happening. The situation became even more awkward when the cashier proceeded to search through all my grocery bags and items as if trying to find a non-existent receipt! It was quite rude - who needs two receipts?
Moon then requested that I log into my bank account and show her the pending amount as proof of payment, which only added to my frustration. Despite this inconvenience, at the end Moon apologized and offered to send me the receipt via text by noon (June 25th). Although a receipt isn't a huge deal in itself, it's not just about the physical document - I want to see if she follows through on her promise.
What was most disappointing is that I didn't hear a single apology from the cashier who made the mistake. Instead of taking responsibility or showing any remorse, she seemed more concerned with wrapping up her shift than making amends. It's essential for businesses like H-mart to prioritize customer service and train their staff to handle mistakes professionally.
Unfortunately, this cashier needs significant improvement in customer service skills - instead of apologizing and making things right, she chose to shift the blame onto customer, which was unacceptable!
Customer service is what sets businesses apart - it's the heart and soul that keeps customers coming back!
Updated: Jun 26, I have finally got my receipt! Your efforts to make things right are truly appreciated! Moon deserved 4 stars, the cashier earned only...
Read moreHi! So I went to eat with my friends, and we were going to eat at the food court right after class. We are college students. I ordered my food with one of the old ladies with a perm who has glasses. I told her that I wanted this specific order T14, but she thought I meant D14 later on. When I realized my receipt, I went to go up to her to change my order, she got mad. Got up to my face, pointed at my face, and told me that I was wrong. When it was a simple misunderstanding, and started yelling at me, and complained to her co-worker in Korean about me too. I never felt so disrespected, and honestly, as a person of color, it was disheartening. I’m from an immigrant family too, so I understand if someone makes a mistake in a second language, and I have always been taught to respect my elders too. But honestly, I don’t think getting disrespected like that by someone way older than me is ok. I've been going to this place since I was a kid, and I have always had a good experience until now. One of the customers also stood up for me when she was talking badly about me in Korean, which I appreciate. I don’t think I’ll ever order from here again, and honestly, she could have just corrected it and didn’t have to make it such a big deal. I ordered my food to go, and even the people looked irritated. Honestly, be nicer to your customers, you're working and getting paid to serve your customers. I also work too, and go to school. So this very unacceptable. Talk to your staff, or get new staff. I hope no one has to experience this again. I’ve never felt so discriminated as a brown person until now. You could have just fixed it. I hope that lady gets help, not just her but the rest of the older ladies. I can tell they don’t treat their workers well either. Never coming back. Do better. Hire...
Read moreI ordered food at the food court then quickly realized I ordered the wrong thing. I checked with with the person making the food and they said they hadn't started making it yet so i went over to the cashier and asked if i could pay the difference for something else because what i wanted actually cost more. The Cashier of the food court walked away while I was speaking so i just waited. Then the cashier and a man who I'm assuming was the manager start yelling from middle of the court no refunds or exchanges. I was shocked because it was disrespectful & embarrassing. Everyone stopped and stared, There was not a an issue while i was talking to the cashier before so I'm not understanding why I was being treated in this way. It seamed like he felt comfortable talking to woman of color this way and most likely has done it before. After that happened I told him no worries, its all good and went to pick up the order. The lady who made the food asked if I wanted sauce and before I could answer the manager came back over and asked the lady if there was a problem. I told him there was no problem she just asked me a question. I guess he assumed I was causing an issue. It seemed like he wanted there to be a problem, but I wasn't giving him any negativity. The name of the food place is called Oh K Dog (Korean Hotdogs). Needless to say I wont be returning. Simple order mishap, I did not deserve to be treated this way. I stayed respectful the entire time. Treat all of your customers with respect, regardless of the color of there skin or just in general....
