Undoubtedly one of the best escape rooms you can enjoy!! They have put in some serious effort into their rooms and the dedication will become evident during your experience. As an escape room enthusiast, these rooms were so good that we did 3 within a week. Cannibal's Den was unlike anything I had done before because it really challenged your thinking process. It's very different from your typical rooms; the immersion and puzzle design encourage you to think along real-life lines rather than abstract problem solving. The atmosphere is wonderfully scary and if you want the best horror experience for Cannibal's Den, go with game master Michael (the deep voice guy). Da Vinci was excellent with its clever puzzles (and where you do need to have abstract problem solving skills). Red Giant is always going to be awesome for anyone who loves secret tomb/treasure themed rooms. I was quite impressed with the prop design! Game masters Drew and Logan were helpful, fun and attentive. What I truly appreciated is that for all 3 rooms we did, our gamemasters were observing our game sincerely and were invested in our overall experience. It's good to have adult-geared escape rooms in DFW although they also have kids-oriented ones. I hope they bring in some of the other rooms from their LA location (like Project Minotaur, Resurrection or Perfumer). That would definitely put them head and shoulders above the competition. All bookings are private, which is great. There is a rescheduling fee though in case you need to change your time slot (would be great if they didn't charge if your request is reasonable enough). While the business space is secure, just be watchful around the parking area if you're going late at night. A couple of homeless people may be lurking in the area - make sure to not leave any valuables in the car. Shout out to Michael for escorting us to our car at 12.30 am after our game...and spookily staying in character even as we drove off! We will surely be back to check out all of the rooms and if/when they expand...
Read moreTook my three kids, aged 10, 8, and 5 for their first escape room (my third escape room). We played the Spell Breakers quest. The room was very well done; lots of details and age-appropriate puzzles. The actor-interactive element was really neat. It was done with puppets and was really cute. My 8 and 10 year old had a good time, my 5 year old was pretty scared. The low lighting and environment was too creepy for her. There isn’t an official age recommendation on the website, but I would personally suggest this room is best for 7 and older. If you have a kid who is easily scared or more sensitive this might not be the best for them.
I do wish the tv in the lobby hadn’t been playing trailers for the other games. I understand the company is trying to promote their other rooms, but the trailers featured actors screaming and hiding and getting sprayed with blood. I think seeing that before entering our own escape room really made my kids (and admittedly me) nervous before starting our own puzzle. I didn’t know how interactive the actors would be and we were afraid someone dressed in a scary costume might jump out at us as was portrayed in the trailer. The lighting was also very dim which made it hard to see some of the puppets clearly.
The staff also told us if we left the room at all the game would be over and we wouldn’t be allowed to re-enter. This is unusual; my two previous escape rooms, which I did through other venues, said if you need to leave to use the bathroom you are allowed. Since this room is for kids it would be nice to have the option to leave if someone needs to.
Overall we had a good time and I would recommend this to someone whose kids are the right age and...
Read moreTo start, we had played 2 other rooms at this location before returning for a third. Overall, we had a good experience until tonight when we decided to try the DaVinci room... we knew going in that it was a tough room but had no idea it was nearly impossible. My wife and I have done over 100 rooms and never came across a puzzle like we encountered in that room. Even after multiple clues that came over a terrible audio system, in a voice accent that we couldn't understand, we still failed to complete the puzzle. We ended up tapping out instead of asking for a hundred more clues and staring at the same puzzle for 30 more minutes.
First off, drop the accent or make it possible for your guests to understand what you're saying. We shouldn't have to ask you to repeat clues because we dont understand your speech. Second, get rid of a puzzle that can't be solved after multiple clues are given. Or, give better clues. If you can't explain the solution properly over the audio system then its time to recycle that puzzle. Even after we gave up and they tried explaining the solution to us, it still was nearly impossible to figure out. I'm fine with a tough room, I actually prefer them, but this was a black hole that sucked up the entire experience and left a bad taste. Be warned.
edit to the owner it you think adding a minimum # of players is the solution to this problem, then best of luck to you. No matter how you look at it, it's a...
