I give two stars and not because of the employees. They were great, I say that upfront. The rooms seemed great by cleanness and amenities. The reason for two stars comes from other situations.
I, almost a week out, booked a king sized suite. Several hours before I am going to check in, on the day of my arrival I get a call informing me my room is not available because they overbooked, so they must switch me to a double Queen bed room. From the wording on the phone my judgment is someone else needed the king suite and was staying for several days so they were bumping me.
Upon arrival I checked in and we went to the room. It was very warm and the a/c had not been turned on. The ice maker wasn’t working and the body wash in the shower was empty. The employees offered to get us a bag of ice which was awesome and replaced the soap.
We had noticed as well when we entered the room it smelled faintly of cigarette smoke. The smell just seemed to increase as time went on. After I took a shower I had closed the door and when we went to use the bathroom several minutes later the whole bathroom was dense in cigarette smoke smell which filled the bedroom.
I popped downstairs to mention it. Again the employee seemed to be trying their best. I overheard from other guests there were guests arguing outside, some guests arguing in one of the rooms and another room on another floor smelling like smoke.
My experience in these situations is usually a management issue not proving enough personnel or resources. I’m not saying there what it was.
They were booked solid I was told, but a room came available and she moved us. Anything was better than a room full of cigarette smell. In the end we ended up in a single double or queen sized bed, I’m unsure which. This room smelled like dog/wet dog. I did not mention it at that point because we knew there wasn’t anything the employee on call could do.
It was not what we booked or wanted and didn’t have much choice. I had booked a king ahead of time and if was in the room we had booked we wouldn’t have ended up in all of these issues and that’s where I was going with my review. In the end I felt I wasted my time to rest and my money to stay there.
The coffee pots don’t seem to be cleaned when room is cleaned FYI. Both rooms had dirty pots. First room shower worked fine, second room the tub faucet shower converter didn’t fully convert to shower and sprayed.
Location is convenient to Costco and In and Out burger across the freeway. And close by is CVS, several sit down restaurants and also Whataburger.
No pool that we saw and does not serve breakfast. Coffee machine in lobby was broken. Parking lot is not real big, but connected close by with other parking lots.
Towels looked clean and fluffy, bed seemed cleaned. But as other reviews mention about a smell, the hallways didn’t have a smell. Plus the second room did have a strong dog smell as mentioned.
I want to like it and has potential, but needs some changes, usually changes that come from owners or managers.
Other details that might be helpful if choosing to stay. The TV has USB and HDMI hookups on the back and I believe it had RCA hookups. Desk was nice, had a two burner stove and sink plus microwave and roasted. It has a small bean pot and a couple skillets. And a few dishes, cups and mugs and silverware and utensils as well. Had dish soap and two dishwasher tabs. Also had a pitcher...
Read more"Nicely Furnished, Comfortable and Great Value" We spent 3 weeks here, and were generally pleased with our stay. The Bed(s) were super comfortable, surprisingly made up with top quality bed linens, comforter and multiple pillows -- actually one of the most comfortable beds we've slept in at any Hotel. Likewise, the Bathroom was furnished with top-quality towels. There is also a large Flat Screen TV with Cable Programming, and the WIFI Internet is reliable and high-speed. Each of the room suites, is also equipped with a mini-kitchen that includes an electric 2-burner Stovetop, Microwave, Coffee Maker, a full-size Refrigerator/Freezer, and all necessary cooking and eating ware, plus you can "borrow" additional equipment if needed (i.e. Fryers, Waffle Makers, Crockpot/Slow Cooker, Blender, etc.). The Hotel also includes a decent Fitness Gym, Business Center (with free use of desktop computers and printer), a large Laundry Room with FREE use of Washers and Dryers, Free Gourmet Coffee Machine in lobby, and finally there are Gas BBQ's available for use by guests under a covered outdoor sitting area. Prices for the rooms are very competitive and less than other top-grade Hotel Suites. A very good value. As for the Staff, they were extremely friendly and helpful. BUT, we do have two significant "Criticisms" that prevent us from giving this a 5-Star Rating: First, because we stayed during the Covid Pandemic and before the recent loosening of the CDC recommendations, the Hotel Policy was supposed to "Require" Masks be worn at all times by everyone in public areas. But, the Staff totally failed to enforce the rule, and at least half the Guests ignored it and went maskless without consequence. (Obviously, the foregoing complaint, will be "Moot" soon given the ever-expanding pool of Vaccinated people). Second, however, the Hotel permits Pets to be brought with Guests. We love animals, but were very surprised that once again there is little control from the Staff, so that Guests were seen walking very large Dogs through the hallways and in the only Elevator and without requiring them to wear a Muzzle (including during our stay a full-sized Pit Bull with a head as big as a basketball that always looked anxious to bite anyone who came near; and a similarly sized Rottweiler). This is not just alarming for other Guests, but as an experienced Civil Litigation Attorney, in my opinion this presents a very serious legal liability problem for the Hotel should a Guest inevitably be bitten (or another smaller pet be attacked). Other than the foregoing criticisms, we definitely...
