(Part 1) Do NOT go to this place. If I could give no stars, believe I absolutely would.
I had just moved into my first apartment with my friends and I was so excited to embark on my journey in living independently for the first time, with people I know and love, doing the same. We were recommended to come to this place from a family friend because moving out is not a cheap task, and we heard that this would be a great source for finding selections that were affordable.
I came in with my mom and little sister looking for a couch and a fridge, and were helped by an associate named David. I’m not sure what his role was in terms of whether or not he was a higher up, but at first he seemed to be very helpful and was eager to help me find what I needed and even applauded my move as a young woman, encouraging me to keep going. The first impression was fantastic, enough for me to put down a 500$ deposit on my furniture/appliance with my remaining balance to be paid the next time I come in for pickup. It seemed steep considering my minimum could’ve been as low as 50$, but I was excited! And if I had it at the moment, why not? But most importantly, I remember very vividly David reassuring me that if I don’t end up wanting to go through with this purchase, I’d get a refund of my deposit, no problem.
Proceed to my next visit, I come back with my mom, a U Haul, and some muscle to help with the transportation. All seemed to be fine, I paid my balance and had awaited for their team to help with the loading. This is where things go downhill. I was told there was going to be two guys assisting with the loading, and I noticed one of them was waiting for the other for quite some time, sometimes going back inside to look for him with no luck. Eventually, he told us he can do this on his own and proceeded to begin loading up the fridge. My brothers and his friend tried to offer their support, but they were brushed off and he was confident in his abilities to do this — not. He takes his dolly and starts moving in with the refrigerator, which quickly steers away from the ramp, losing its balance and nearly falling off. Had my brothers and his friends not rushed in to push it back into place, he would’ve dropped it. I was worried, but didn’t think too much of it because no physical damage was done and he was by himself. Next up was my sectional, he loaded up each little piece with ease and we were nearly done. I was impressed that he was able to do this nearly by himself. Then we get to the last piece, the main big section of the sectional. He aligned it on his dolly and rushed up the ramp, except this time, with nothing holding the base to support the couch or a restraint, it fell over and you can just hear that it was done for. What got me is, rather than looking at me and apologizing, he gets the couch and takes to load it up like nothing ever happened, except my mom was quick to step and tell him no. One of the female associates, who was there the whole time and watched this happened, even rushed me with the paper contract trying to solidify the order with a signature almost in a panic, before I can even examine the couch first. The people pleaser in me really tried to brush this off and play it off as if it was okay, but I’m so thankful to my mom who was there to be my voice when I couldn’t find it.
My mom and brother started examining it, and noticed two of the legs had broken off and one was loose, and under the couch you can see the wood paneling/support was cracked and they both told me that this couch wouldn’t last long if I took it in the condition it was in. I asked if there were other couches I could look at within the same price range or if they had the same couch available, but the one they had given me was the only model they had and came from the floor. I tried to compromise and ask if there was a discount they can offer, which now that I think about it I was so dumb to even give them the chance considering how they had no ounce of sympathy / weren’t...

I asked if there were other couches I could look at within the same price range or if they had the same couch available, but the one they had given me was the only model they had and came from the floor. I tried to compromise and ask if there was a discount they can offer, which now that I think about it I was so dumb to even give them the chance considering how they had no ounce of sympathy or apologetic behavior, with the loader refusing to even take accountability for what he did and tried arguing with my mom about it. The female associate had said that she needed manager approval for a discount but the manager wasn’t present and kept insisting that there was no managerial figure to help with the situation. It was a while of her going back inside and out to figure out the discount situation and then told me the manager inside could give me 50-100$ off. Firstly, I thought there was no manager present today? Secondly, that is such a slap in the face of a discount considering the condition of the 800$ couch I had hoped on buying. David comes out to try and alleviate the situation, if I can even call it that. We explain to him what happened and he was quick to tell us that the furniture was in great condition and there was no major damage. What they didn’t know was that my siblings and I grew up in a furniture store because of my parents, and we knew right off the bat that this man was trying to sell us a damaged couch by trying to persuade us it was in perfect condition. My brother tries to level with him and shows him where the cracks are and that this wouldn’t last long in my apartment. Rather than trying to understand or listening to my brother, David tells him in a borderline yelling way, “You don’t know what you’re talking about you don’t know furniture. You don’t know everything and if I rip the fabric under this and damage the couch more to show you it’s okay, you will all pay for this and more. You don’t know what you’re doing.” At this point, I was taken aback and overwhelmed. I have one woman trying to get me to sign a contact, the loader arguing with my mom, and this associate who I once thought was the most helpful and kind human being, yelling at my younger brother because he felt his ego being attacked and refused to let go of a sale that evidently wasn’t going to happen.
I told the female associate that I’m done and I want to proceed with order cancellation and a refund and she leads me back inside to begin the process. She voids the transaction for the final payment I made, which was $1,172.03. When it came down to getting a refund for my $500 deposit, she tells me it can only be put back on a credit card. I told her that makes no sense because I paid with debit and expect it to be put back on debit. She says they can’t do that so I ask her to then void that transaction then and she says it’s not possible. I told her I will not be getting a credit card refund, especially because my only credit card is paid off, I didn’t want to compromise the balance on that but also, this purchase was made with 3 people pitching in. I expected my money to go back to my debit so I can give them back what they had sent me. She offered to speak with the manager and work out a zelle payment which made no sense because at that point, just refund the card. But again, I’m too kind for my own good and said why not and told her that that’d be okay. She assured that she would reach out soon to let me know the details of the transaction. She reached out on October 10th, 2024 over text after I missed her call while I was at work. I messaged her back and there was no response on her end. I reached back again on the 17th for an update and still...
