Seoul Beauty Salon — Local services in Poquoson

If you are like me and have a fear of going to hair salons, then you probably know how hard it is to find an "okay" hair salon. I've had so many terrorizing hair experiences that I can't just walk in to any random place.

I first came across Seoul Beauty Salon through Google. They led me to Yelp where they only had one review. At first, I was a bit skeptical about the place since they only had one review that was 5-starred, but the Yelper seemed very honest and sincere with her review. I didn't have many other choices around the area anyway, so I decided to have a go.

The place and atmosphere may surprise you a bit because it looks like one of those classic Korean hair salons. The decor isn't grand like some of the other Korean hair salons we have nowadays, but don't let their outer appearance scare you away. Here are some of the things that will make me drive an hour just to come back:

Their welcoming attitude and service! - Though they were slightly older hair stylists whose English may not be perfect, their friendly smiles and attitudes were so welcoming. They catered to my needs and actually listened to what the customer wanted instead of forcing you to buy products, try out different things, and cutting a lot more than the customer wants. The ladies were also very modernized when it came to current styles and methods, too!! That's a huge plus for me because I care about up-to-date hairstyles and methods :)

Cleanliness - Though the place may not look as modernized and grandeur, they keep the place pretty organized and clean, which I appreciate.

Skills / Results / Price - Obviously, this is the most important for all people who walk into a hair salon, am I right? Hands down, they were pretty good. My mom and sister got haircuts and they came out very nice. The head hairdresser is very skilled with her scissors since she has MANY years of experience. She even goes to seminars and classes to learn up-to-date methods and styles! :) I got my hair COLORED. I am really scared to get my hair permed or colored since many times my hair becomes really damaged while sometimes they charge between 150 to 200 or more. But here, they were so fair and generous with their prices! They tell you the prices up front and do not try to "cheat" you. I had a pretty long length of hair (up to mid-back) but I didn't pay over $100 (what?!)! The color (got dark brown/black) came out really nice :) They even did a service to straighten my hair without extra charge.

Eyeline/Eyebrow Tattoos - Yes, they even know how to do this here. I was amazed. I was at first very skeptical of trying this out, but it's amazing how well the head hairdresser knew how to do this. She is legal licensed and certified. I am really scared of ANY cosmetic procedures. Heck, I can't even get a flu shot without being a big crybaby about it, but I decided to try it out :'( I was really scared thinking it'll hurt, but it wasn't bad at all. I only got the eyeline tattoo and it took about 10 minutes in total. It came out very natural-looking. She has quite the sense to make it look natural but pretty :) She's quite an artist!

Overall, my experience here was great :) I would give 5/5 stars and will definitely come back for a touch-up and coloring of the roots.

I advise YOUNGER PEOPLE to try this place out as well because she's got the skills AND good prices! Don't let the old-fashioned style of the place...

[Second visit] I cut my hair today and I love how it’s done!:) I showed her a picture that I wanted to cut and she did an awesome job!! I did my eyebrows tattoo and eyeliner tattoos as well!!!! It took about 40 minuets to get the tattoos done. I’ll have to see how it’s gonna come out after few days but I can already tell it’ll look natural as I wanted it to be.

They pretty much do a lot of stuff like eyebrows tattoos and eyeline tattoos...etc..as well! I'm so satisfied with my new hair cut! Yay:)

My name is Soo-Mee .. I found this salon on Google searching for Korean salons near me. Respectfully, I am Korean myself and know that in my experience Koreans are good with curly perms (mostly) … I loved the authenticity of the atmosphere and how welcoming and friendly the staff was. I’m usually very picky and nervous when it comes to my hair and they certainly put my worry to ease! I got a trim of my dead ends and she kept my length. I asked for a spiral curly perm and they did a wonderful job!!! I couldn’t be happier with my results!!! I will definitely be coming back!...
