Shore Point. I would rather die in route to another hospital than go to this hospital. Avoid this place. Multiple issues from lack of staff, parking, dietary, cleanliness, no communication between departments. Lack of compassion. And no one at front desk, zero security you are free to go anywhere in hospital no questions asked or anyone even acknowledging you as you walk through the halls. Lack of staff. This is a known issue to administration. Lots of call offs and the other staff is exhausted. How do I know this because the nurse at the desk in the ICU complained about it to each other for over an hour. Seriously over an hour. It was nice to hear that the one nurse still came in when she was sick all last week. As she ate finger foods and licked her fingers. No worries though in the two plus hours we were visiting she didn’t get up to help anyone. Good help is hard to find I hope you’re still looking. Parking. Wow you sure do have a lot of empty spaces for Doctor only parking. But let’s start with the emergency room parking. Or as it is also known as staff parking. Be sure to have your hiking boots on when your ready to make that trek from the parking lot to the emergency entrance who designed the layout Mrs Walsh’s 3 grade class. The parking lot near the main entrance has two long rows of doctor only parking instead of I don’t know maybe handicap parking closest to the entrance. No handicap parking is way off to the side of building. Showing us all Shorepoint cares more about doctors than it does families. Dietary. The food sucks but that is not my complaint. My issue is that when a person is brought in with blood sugar over 600 and heart issues. And I come in to find that patient eating a cookie and has three packets of sugar still on her tray and one empty packet. I assume she already ate it. Also a cup of pineapple. Are they trying to kill people? I very sternly told the nurse how unacceptable this was and first tried to blame the doctor then blamed dietary, the next day she was transferred from ICU to IMCU. her dinner came and the sugar was back again this time I caught it before she did. This time the nurse said well she’s a grown woman and if she wants sugar well I’m going to give it to her. Also her meal tasted like it was over salted. I tasted it myself and needed a drink immediately. Cleanliness. Trash all over the floors. Spilled coffee near the cafe. The glass door in the ICU looked like someone last cleaned it with a dirty mop. Greasy finger marks on the walls and curtains. Which looked like they didn’t clean up after a murder scene. I’ve seen toddlers leave less of a mess after eating spaghetti with their hands. Shall I go on. Ok I will. Clean the bathrooms more often. Please for the love of God. It’s a hospital everything should be super sanitary. Guess that’s one way to keep people ill so they have to stay longer. No communication between departments. So I go back to the sugar and not telling dietary or the area she was transferred to about her issues. Why was it not in her notes to BOLO for sugar and candy on her tray from dietary if they are so horrible and shouldn’t be trusted. How hard is it to get things right? Lack of compassion. Walking through the hallways of the hospital, not one person said hello or could I help you. No one even looked up and gave a smile. Heads down in phones. Or eyes on the ground. Three times we walked from the car directly to the room in the ICU without speaking to anyone. To be fair though one time we didn’t see anyone. Not a soul. When we left her room I did say something to the nurse, she was busy on the phone and waved me off. No one at the front desk. This is an issue easily fixed. Hire someone to man this station. When I brought this issue up to the nurse she told me they want people to go through the ER. That is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. No security. Nothing…...
Read morei would first off like to say most of the nurses here and doctors are pretty nice but most of the time clearly have no idea what they are doing. i came in on a monday morning to the er because i was just at another er the thursday before and they told me i have colitis and if it got worse go back to the er..i went back to the er and after blood work and a ct scan they told me “you have worsening colitis so we have to admit you into the hospital “ mind you i never thought i had colitis because i had barely any symptoms. my symptoms consisted of lower back pain with lower abdominal pain and nausea and vomiting. i stayed there for 2 nights and they swore that it was colitis but they gave me the strongest pain med and strongest antibiotic. until i was constantly throwing up every hour and no one seemed to care. until i asked for a gi specialist because i didn’t get to meet my doctor till the 2nd day no one had any plan of action to figure out what’s wrong with me so when the gi specialist came up to me and asked if i want good or bad news i said give me both.. bad news is the pain on my lower left side is connected to my nerve that connects to my lower back which is why i was having awful back pain for weeks with the nausea..good news is i have no colitis..and no uti which was weird to me.. because no one seemed to mention that. so i asked so those pain meds and antibiotics didn’t do anything pretty much.. all of the antibiotics i was on even before made everything worse and apparently i could’ve had solid food this whole time no clear diet it’s not like i can eat anything really but it would be nice to know.. i had to discharge myself because of the me being wrongfully diagnosed no one in that hospital seems to care and then they didn’t know how to put an iv in and when i asked for some nausea medicine they put it in a iv bag but didn’t turn the machine on so it can go through.nurse came in said give it 20 minutes it’ll kick in and you should feel it..40 minutes later still nauseous i called the nurse again and i asked so i don’t know if it’s me but i don’t necessarily feel anything i don’t think it’s working anymore and helping the nausea..she’s like oh yeah it’s cuz it’s off..so you never turned it on in the beginning and then on top of that once she turned it on all the liquid and fluid from the iv came out of my iv that was attached to my hand. the nurse wanted to see if we can. try another arm to put the iv but i have small veins and im anemic so its hard but they ended up poking me in 4 different spots on my hand which isnt a great feeling.oh and not to mention one of the nurses practically threatened me with oh if you leave rn im gonna unbill your insurance so you have to pay the whole amount..now i work in the medical field that’s not a thing once it’s billed to the insurance you can’t just unbill it especially as a nurse..the 1st night they already had someone speak to me about my copay with the insurance and we discussed everything.so the threats, wrongful diagnosed when i knew deep down that i didn’t have any of the things they claimed i had. just overall not a great experience and they made me feel like...
Read moreExtremely disappointed and infuriated. Healthcare is suppose to be a sensitive and empathetic field where patients need to feel they are being taken care of rather than being abandoned or alienated. My husband, Mir Ali, just had his CAT procedure yesterday with the expectation of getting stents put in by Dr Bala Nandigam. The Shorepoint Port Charlotte hospital appointment was set by doctor’s office ten days prior, which was our very first time at this hospital too. The insurance was verified being Blue Cross so everything was set at the hospital as it should be. When we arrived on Jan 17th 2024 at around 5am in the morning for registration on the third floor, after initial info gathering, Diane from the Registration office told us that we are suppose to pay $4900 plus amount upfront else our services would be denied. Anyone can imagine that at this moment we had other more crucial things on our minds about the procedure, how would it be conducted n hope it goes well as it was my husband’s first time going through something of this nature, BUT, here we were totally confused & shocked that we were being denied the procedure which was planned and scheduled ten days ago! When we asked how she proposed to resolve this issue as we had to be checked-in timely for the procedure scheduled for roughly 7am AND all due diligence was in place as it should be by the doctor’s office PLUS we were not intimated of any such upfront payment when the hospital called us as per protocol a day before to share the do’s and dont’s, she replied she can not over ride and the person who can, is not yet in office as it’s too early!!! This was unbelievable! By this time we were understandably agitated, extremely angry as she asked us to WAIT in the waiting area for someone to assist as she couldnt check us in as we were not willing to pay! This made no sense! Totally clueless, we went n sat in the waiting room perplexed to what had just happened. Within 5mins or so, a lady comes up, engages in a rude tone, ties the patient’s band on my husband’s wrist, hands us the medical documents and asks us to follow her to the second floor where they will handle our billing?!She never clarified what happened at the registration office or what or how the payment plan is or whatsoever. Perplexed and worried for the procedure we followed her to the floor where my husband was prepped up and later he had the procedure.
This entire incident was absurd and must be looked into by the management immediately as after speaking to some other nursing staff, got to know that similar complaints have been heard regarding Diane from the Registration office, being rude and lacking empathy for patients.
However, on a positive note I would like to add here that we were very pleased with the Nursing staff on the second floor. Very well informed and polite. They attended and assisted my husband’s post procedure and made us feel at ease after all the ridiculous ordeal we...
