I was very happy to hear that The Olympia Restaurant had reopened after being demolished by Hurricane Ian and rumors that they may never be coming back. Well they’re back with bells on! They reopened 2 months ago. So I was so happy to be driving down the Tamiami Trail and noticed to my delight that the lights were on! I parked my car and walked into the new remodeled restaurant all brought up to date, clean and spiffy! Ian take that and shove it, lol😎I was seated at my table and ordered a nice Hot cup of Tea and Anna (a very nice Greek woman )was my waitress and didn’t forget my water. 💦 made me happy. I ended up adding sugar to my water instead of my tea cup and Anna got me a new one as we laughed on getting older. Was nice to have a waitress who was happy to assist you instead of looking at you as if you had two heads. I was so excited about them being open that I asked Anna what was some of her favorites. I mentioned the fried fish but my eye caught the Salmon Piccata and she agreed that was one of her favorites so I went on faith and ordered that and a salad . I am a very good cook myself and love and cook various cuisine. I was NOT disappointed. The salad was large and lovely with honey mustard. Delish , it was served with warm bread with the salad . When my dinner came out, I was just finishing my salad, perfect timing! Bonus! The plate was served hot and was pleasing to the eye and a nice clean presentation. The Salmon, a nice serving , not too big and not to small, the Angel hair Pasta I chose as one of my sides, is a rare choice for me because not many chefs cook it well it’s usually overcooked and clumpy. I took a bite of that Salmon perfectly cooked , the flavor as it should be, bursting with flavor, covered in wine ,lemon, garlic sause with a wonderful array of capers , not skimped on . But masterfully done Bravo Antonio, my compliments Sir to this Chef! So if you’re looking for great Greek food and some Italian plates. You must try Olympias! She’s been in business for quite awhile and pssst the tzatziki sause is the real thing. Not some fake formula of ranch dressing with cucumbers I have seen in some wannabe restaurants. So Dear readers, good ambiance ( good soft Greek music) good food and great service. You can never go wrong and I certainly appreciated that💞PS I took a Gyro home and a nice piece of Baklava for my lunch the next day so I spent more than my normal...
Read moreI hardly ever write a review. I cannot even remember the last time that I had. I put a order in. When the food was delivered there was only two items out of five that were delivered. I called the restaurant immediately. The girl that answered the phone was quite nice. Said she would leave a note with my full name and somebody would call me. I never received a phone call so I stopped by because I had to drive the Punta Gorda. The lady seemed quite helpful until she went who I assume was the owner sitting in a back table. $68 for two people to eat. For one is outrageous. All of the bread was soggy. The pasta display come out of a can. This restaurant is definitely not what it used to be. They probably should have stayed closed down after the hurricane. I pride myself I'm doing business with locals. But it's beyond ridiculous when I personally take the time to go to the restaurant to have this taken care of. Needless to say I did not even get a partial refund. He can write a rebuttal all he wants on Google. But I'll talk to many other people into town that feel the same way. No way to treat your local community to live here full-time. I would say continue reading some of these reviews. The owner obviously has a shitty response. To the people that are commenting. If you're no better than that maybe you should get out of the restaurant business. It's also amazing that the owner cannot deal with the simple situation. He has to hide behind who he has working for him. Just to blow a customer...
Read moreJust took a 82 year old out to dinner with me and my husband. We ordered calamari and it was good. Then me and my husband ordered a salad the lettuce was brown and the chicken was hard and chewy. We let the server Sarah know and she walked away saying you just don't like the price. No I even said I will pay for them but that the salads were awful. She keep walking by the table saying rude comments and yelling at my husband so he was telling her to not speak to him that way in the restaurant then says to my husband you need to leave or I am calling the cops because she felt threatened. So he left and she just kept yelling at me and a 82 year old women. Who never said anything. She says we have cameras i said good hopefully your boss or bosses can see the way you speak to customers. Then as I pay she throws the recipe and card at me. As i am leaving she is yelling hope you feel good about yourself I am a single mom. 1st I never yelled at her or said anything. Then she kept saying things like yes write a bad review on me. So this is the reason i am making this post. Make sure you tell the whole story she says. I will never go back and hopefully she is nicer to other. Just for others please read the comments from other customers they say the waitresses are rude.
