Plato's Closet Port Charlotte — Local services in Port Charlotte

I came in store and explained I never been there before and had clothes to sell. The young lady smiled and said ok and point to my daughter and ask if that box was what I wanted to sell. She had me show my driver's license fill out paper with my name and address and phone number and aftertaking my box she said she would call me in 35 minutes. Which I thought was odd since it clearly was not busy and I only had a small box. After half hour of roaming the over price goodwill items they had there( go to Goodwill cause they have the same items but cheaper) the lady returned the box... told me they don't buy formal dresses.i asked about the new sketches shoes and they said they were not the kind that would sell...( they had obviously used shoes for sale...these had never been worn) they didn't even look at the dresses...there was a new nonformal dress in there...they then gave me a $5 off coupon to buy something in their store. I laughed and handed it back saying no thanks. They give me 5$ coupon....that's so funny. So why didnt they tell me their requirements before taking all my info and wasting my time.I would expect my employees to be friendly and helpful in timely manner, to explain how things worked ..the requirements. she should have looked at my items with me present,instead of the...oh thanks I'll get back to ya later with a phone call. My advice is sell your items on facebook market place.or other web base platforms. Or donate them to Goodwill and write it off on your taxes...or have a garage sale. Don't go to plates closet. It also was very warm and humid in there. That in itself was way I wouldn't buy anything from there. I will be donating my clothes to a nursing home ( many have no clothes) and selling the prom dresses on FB marketplace. They don't buy formal dresses at Platos closet....oh And if the owner decide to reply...don't continue with the rude.."let's get this straight"...as I am reading . You need customers...we don't need you. At least I dont...I was just testing...

I LOVE Plato’s Closet at Port Charlotte! Great store to buy and sell trendy,gently used (or new with original tag attached) clothes,cosmetics,perfumes make up and more! The store is clean and nicely organized.Also the biggest Plato’s Closet in the South West Florida region from Miami to Tampa.(I visited most of them in the past year,in search of great deals:) Staff is very nice,after a few visits to the store they welcomed me by my first name-what is not an easy one to remember:) I love the business model of Plato’s Closet! 1# You can make a little spending money by bringing your gently used,clean clothes to the store.The friendly staff will choose the styles and sizes of high demand items. 2# You can leave with a handful of cash or pick out different clothes from the store. 3# If you buy clothes at the same time you are bringing in clothes you avoid paying taxes on your new items or paying for it at all.Kind of exchanging your old closet for new ones. 4# Plato’s Closet is offering a bonus program and other discounts. 5# By shopping and selling at Plato’s Closet you help people (mostly teenagers and young adults) to get quality,brand name items on a budget. 6# You are also helping the environment by not buy new clothes. 7# Save money,get great deals! I found very nice brand name items at the Port Charlotte Plato’s Closet.Some of my favorite brands are Lilly Pulitzer,Lululemon,Badgley Mischka,Ugg,MK also bought CK parfumes Mack make up for the fraction of the retaile price. Most of the clothes and shoes were way under priced compared to other retailers.On average I paid under $15/item! But that been said don’t expect them to pay big bucks for your used items.That is how they can keep their prices low-they buy low and sell low too.When you are bring in clothes you can decided at the end if you willing to sell your items for the price offered or hold on to them. My daughter who has really nice clothes and basically new and named brand brought some clothes in. They said 30 min we will receive a call once they were done going through them. My daughter purposely put clothes in a certain way because she heard this place doesn't go through them and she was hoping the rumors weren't true. 5 minutes later we recieved the call they were done?? We brought 2 bags in..We picked the clothes back up and she was extremely disappointed to figure out the rumors were true. They did not go through the clothes stating it's not in style or fashion. As we put the clothes in the car and my daughter going through the bag said that's exactly how she packed them..If you don't want to waste your time don't take your clothes here to sell. My daughter is 14 and constantly gets compliments on her outfits. You would think living in a predominantly senior place platos closet would be more excepting on teen clothing.. We're extremely disappointed not the fact they didn't take the clothes but lying saying they went through them.. Not a good look for a company.

As for the reply from the owner thank you for this!! Again lies! I have the call log to prove it and none of the jeans and shorts were even out of the bag!
