T.J. Maxx — Local services in Portage

A great place to go if you're on a budget and want to look cute, regardless. Brands like Lucky Jeans, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs etc. are plenty at great prices. The purses there are a downright steal if you're going designer. The makeup section contains Anastasia, Too Faced and other things the makeup store next to T.J. Maxx sells for three times as much. The only reason I give it four stars is that it's all about timing and the hunt there. Their shipments are random so if you come back another day looking for a clothing item you decided against, you're almost garaunteed not to find it again. The staff is incredibly kind and always makes sure you're doing okay regardless of how crazy busy it gets on certain days. Way better stuff here than at the stores in the Chicago suburbs Everyone was nice and helpful and didn't seem annoyed or pushy/rushing me AND MOST IMPORTANTLY!..... I'm a weirdo and came back and asked if they had any cardboard I could take to secure some pieces of art I got for a friend (his wedding is tomorrow). I didn't think of it ahead of time (before leaving Chicago), and it's not about the money, but why waste a perfectly good, new cardboard box to just be thrown away immediately? The first sales associate was super nice and took me to a manager/supervisor and they literally went out of their way and spent a decent amount of time helping me find exactly what I could use from the back to secure the pictures. The t.j Maxx located in Portage, Michigan is not very helpful. I bought a pair of shoes here and the size must have ran small or something. Anyhow, I brought the shoes back because they were too small for me and a customer service representative said that they could give me in-store credit for the shoes because I didn't have the actual receipt with me. But then shortly after decided that no, I couldn't return them all together because the souls had been a bit worn.. not very worn but with some dirt at the bottom.
