My hubby and I stopped into Peace, Love & Little Donuts of Portage when we were on a road trip that passed through this area. We are donut fans and enjoy trying out donuts from different areas and bakeries.
Peace, Love & Little Donuts of Portage is a cute little donut shop. They have three different types of mini donuts: groovy, far-out, and funkadelic. Groovy is your basic plain and sugared mini donuts. Far-Out is simply frosted mini-donuts. Funkadelic are your specialty frosted and fun-topped mini donuts. Each type has a different price point with the groovy being the most affordable. As a baker and person who travels for donuts, the prices are competitive and reasonable. You can mix donut types when making your selections, and the little donuts are frosted as you order.
We opted for a half-dozen donuts and chose: coconut, fruity pebbles, cinnamon roll (my fav), raspberry lemonade (hubby fav), banana split, and strawberry shortcake. The little donuts were all very good, but I wish the donuts themselves were made fresh at the time of purchase instead of just frosted at the time of purchase. We went in the early afternoon so it's possible they are if you arrive earlier.
The staff was friendly and informative, and the donuts were good. We would love to go back and try out other donut varieties. I would definitely recommend it - worth the...
Read moreMy wife and I stopped at Peace, Love, and Little Donuts of Portage while traveling home from Chicago. Although the shopkeeper had just closed up for the day, he greeted us in super friendly fashion so we could try out the little donuts (you certainly can’t expect that kind of customer service at most places nowadays).
The donuts were just baked fresh within the last hour and were absolutely delicious. They reminded us of cider mill donuts with a wide variety of flavor combination toppings - from crushed M & M’s to Fruity Pebbles to chocolate shavings to many more flavors - PLLD has them. Just want a little something to satisfy the donut craving? Get one. Want to go crazy and try a bunch of different flavors? Get a dozen. Heckuva lot better than those other places with their “donut holes” that come in only 3-4 flavors.
Highly recommended for customer service and quality of product. Now, if they could only expand their offerings to a wide variety of “little bagels,” well - they would corner the market at all business meetings, after church socials, and parent- teacher...
Read moreLet me tell you a story about how dissapointed I am in this place. I stopped and grabbed 6 doughnuts for my kids and they looked Awesome. We didn't have time for pics but I should've taken them while I had the chance. I had to repeat my order soany times because the girl kept trying to give me the wrong doughnuts. She was too busy to concentrate on making my order look nice because she was chatting with another customer who kept cutting in front of me.
My doughnuts were then smashed down into the box, smearing off big portions of the frosting and smearing onto neighboring doughnuts. The box is absolutely covered in frosting and greasy fingerprints.
So if you plan on taking cute pics of these little guys don't set your hopes too high once we extracted the mess things we had a hard time enjoying the individual flavors because the other drawings through that all out of whack.
This was expensive and completely unacceptable. My pants are covered in frosting because they gave me such a gross box. To say I'm upset would be an...
