I believe that Carrington overall is a great school. It is definitely you get what you put into in order to be successful. In my time at Carrington, I have had the opportunity to work with several instructors and a variety of students as well. Our class seems to be very unique as some of the class believes that they can stroll into class whenever. I believe that is something that Carrington needs to be a bit stricter on as class presence is very important and has affected the learning of those students, but also mine.
During my last two terms we've have had a new instructor, and she is amazing and full of knowledge and experience, but I have felt she was not prepared/given all the opportunities to be truly successful teaching these last terms.
This term that we are currently finishing MA 105 (lab) and MA 50 (Theory) has been extremely difficult as it has been the hardest class of the program. On top of its already difficultness the course has had a curriculum change. This has made it extremely difficult as a student as it was a new learning experience for everyone, including our instructor and higher education administration. The course, itself was fine, but the canvas system often had glitches which made it difficult to get ahead to prepare for the following week.
Some of the students have made it a habit not to attend class during this very difficult term and it has not just affected them at this point it's affecting those who attend class regularly. As a class mentor I have found it difficult because of the inconsistencies of the class attendance because there were days almost no one would attend which would allow me time to do my work and try my best to get ahead to have time to help when I am able to, however there were times this term where helping people catch up was all I did.
As the only class mentor that constant inconsistency it made it difficult to for me and those students that were able to stay on top of the curriculum (and those who attended regularly). During the last week of our term I felt that everything was rushed, and I have expressed to the director that I hope the next time this class is taught there will be more instruction as I felt there was barely any this term as most of it was computer work.
I have one more term left before externship and feel that so far, I feel like I still need a bit more to be fully prepared. I wish there were more guidance as to what to study for the NHA exam. I understand there is open lab on Weeks 2 and 4 (Fridays), but due to students schedules it has not been a success in my opinion as there is little to no attendance during the few times I have attempted to attend.
I have no doubt Carrington will be able to take this review to make things better, but I really hope they can also be stricter as to who can attend as I feel that some students are not taking advantage of what Carrington has to offer,...
Read moreHello! I am a first termer for MA, 18 Y/O student here at Carrington.
A couple things regarding the bad reviews for the school i would like to state. it is a colleges job to sell you on their school. if they are high profit (which they are), they are definitely going to try harder. If you dont want to go because they dont have the right accreditation, or theyre too expensive, communicate that and move on with your life, no ones forcing you to go here. it is simply your own fault for not researching more on this school. the people here that tell you to give 5 stars are not forcing you. theyâre encouraging you. we are adults and its your job to show up to class or communicate that youâre not. school is going to be hard. you WILL have to study, research, study more, and repeat and if you donât thats on you. being a MA, dental assistant, veterinarian or even a nurse might not give you the wages you want but thats not their fault, they donât change the wages. typically these positions are for starters then you move up and along. i can tell that they have definitely improved overtime and take these reviews seriously. all in all, there will always be downsides, pros and cons to different schools.
in short, id like to share my experience. i have explored different schools across the board. PCC, Concorde, Charter, GCU, WSU, Pima, Gateway, etc. and Carrington is the only one that was willing to take me as a 17 year old in high school, and the most professional. i met everyone on my tour there and just felt like i belonged. plus, this new campus is so nice. Nadea, Mrs. G, Taylor, Jason, i mean everyone is so supportive amazing and guiding. personally i think you get what you pay for. they have tutoring and mental health services, Fridayâs for labs, the support, it really pays off compared to other colleges. they really try their best to cram everything in 6-9 months without making it super confusing. its a short time to learn so much!
trust me, i know the struggle. working 2 jobs, doing fast paced college as a fresh high school graduate isnât easy! but not impossible. your future awaits you here, this is on you so make it happen!! just make sure you know what youâre...
Read moreFirst let me start off this review by saying this college loves to lie and mislead their students. My experience started off great and then quickly went downhill. I am currently a term 2 straight A student for reference. My first instructor was unjustly fired without cause ( who just happened to be in the top 5 medical assistant category) okay so then they were trying to figure out who to take over classes next. They switched some teachers and then I had another instructor. Brilliant, absolutely brilliant, she was a surgeon. We get the news that she is stepping away from Carrington due to personal reasons. The administrator for the MA program is an arrogant woman who is constantly condescending to her students. She wasn't even a medical assistant so she really didn't know anything about that field. There were issues with financial aid, everytime we as students went to go speak to an financial aid officer, the answer we received was they would grab us if needed. They were never available to answer questions or simply brushed off our concerns. Career services are a joke. There is another arrogant guy there who was lecturing about professional attire and how tattoos were unprofessional, yet he was covered in them. They like to have lectures with students right when it's time for lab or lecture. They don't care about students or instructors time or valuable experience. The administrator of the MA program is the worst. She is the direct reason so many people have quit. From micromanaging to just being a rude person. I also learned that around 7-8 people all just quit at the same time. Overworked and underpaid. I will be reporting this joke of a school to the bbb as well as the department of education. Please I implore you if you value your education, don't go here. They don't value you as a person or as a student. There were also graduating students that had no idea how to do vitals or simple duties. So they would go to externship and be fired. This school absolutely doesn't know how to teach or keep it...
