I love going into Leisure. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little biased because I have a friend who works there. Don't let that taint my review! I legitimately recommend this place! It's definitely not your typical St. John's dive. The location sums up the place in my mind: in between the hippy area of St John's and the rich kids of University of Portland. The inside looks really nice, I especially like the curvy bar. They also have a big open patio on the side. Drinks are decently priced and the bartenders do a great job. I like giving the bartender a vague description of what I'd like and let them make me whatever they decide to create. I've seen some live music at Leisure too! Again, maybe biased since I knew the band, but I think the little side area creates a really intimate setting for a small concert. Only drawback I've come across would be the food options. There aren't many options and you won't get very much. There's so many good restaurants in the area though so I'd suggest you grub somewhere else and grab a drink and some friendly conversation at this awesome...
Read moreNot sure what's going on at Leisure. Seems the chill vibe mixed with a friendly neighborhood staff is having some strife. Second time in a row I've come in and felt like bar staff is above being nice or able to answer a few simple questions without eye rolls. Last night took it a step even further. I was discriminated against by being disabled and wanting my ADA certified service dog to come inside with me. After explaining this is a law and politely informing the female bartender that the things she was telling me were not correct ( i.e. only seeing eye dogs are allowed inside, the dog must have a service vest on, I'm welcome to sit outside only) I was then told I would not be served because it was the bartenders right. So, she essentially said, I'm not allowed to be served because I'm handicapped and have a service dog. Waiting for an appropriate response from the owner before taking further action. This behaviour from your establishment is unacceptable. It is hostile. And bottom line. It is...
Read moreI was honestly pretty disappointed with my experience. The bartender, when I first walked in, seemed to have a pretty poor attitude. I let this pass, and my husband and I ordered our first drinks. These went over fine, and the turkey spinach melt was overall pretty good. I overheard someone get something called a purple rain. It sounded good, and I tried it. It was not good at all. With the bartenders poor attitude I was afriad to say anything, but my husband stepped up to the plate. She was apparently snobby to him about it when I stepped out to the patio, but it seemed like she would replace the drink. I got what I liked, asked to cash out, and it was 72$. Overall expensive, it's portland, and I paid and tipped. I got the detailed receipt, and she still freaking charged me. Again with her attitude I sucked it up and paid, but 12$ for something that was in a short glass AND was poured out is ridiculous. I will definitely not be going back and will...
