McMenamins St. Johns Theater & Pub — Restaurant in Portland

The kitchen is very small here so the food selection is minimal for the chain. when the place gets busy there can be a huge backup for food orders. they have an outdoor area which has a fun fire pit and a little shed that is fun to pop into. there are a couple of games in there. I absolutely love the theater here. they have a wooden dome where you can see the carpentry on the ceiling. The place is kept really clean. I see a general trend of new people coming in and out to work there. on the inside there is an upstairs location that a lot of people don't take advantage of. so if you want some privacy go upstairs. The location is pretty much on the edge of downtown St. John's making it very walkable to multiple other things in town.

The movies here are the cheapest in Portland. they are first run and you get food beer wine if you want while you watch. The servers here have always been extremely nice...except for that one that kicked me out of a movie, not for behavior but because my phone died and I couldn't pull up my pre bought movie tickets...I had a reference number, but this guy wasn't having anything to do with that. That was the only time I felt like an employee there was completely out of place in the way they treated paying customers. The manner he came in the theater, made comments and pulled me out of the theater was beyond embarrassing. I escalated the incident to the corporate contact, they never answered any of my communications. I didn't even get 2 movie tickets to reimburse the pull out after I was able to...

I enjoy going to the movies here. Since you can eat drink and watch a movie. They are reserved seating so make sure you call or order your seats ahead of time so you can get good seats. You order the food and they deliver it to your seat where you can enjoy the movie. The food is great. As always McMenamins has slow service. I did get lucky this time but it was also 10 a.m. their burgers are always nice and thick the fries you can also get salt and garlic. they always have a selection about 10 McMenamins beers. Ruby is always a great starter beer nice and Light. There is parking on the side of the building. If you do park on the street keep an eye on time limit. Cleanliness is great here the chairs were we sat on weren't too bad the tables in front of us weren't too bad. Popcorn is also available for your convenience. Kids are allowed here in certain movie times you would have to go to the website to check which ones are available. This place just get really busy for certain movie so be patient the line for food and popcorn can get long. If you have to sit all the way in the back is not a very good spot you can get a little small but it's also worth the experience since the theaters in a sort of Dome Style in the screen is good enough size I'm finished. I enjoy the you can get your own water on the side right next to the napkins catch up while you are watching the movie. Try a Rubynator next...

Literally one of my 5 favorite restaurants in the world. If it was an option I would give this place a 4.5, because the burger wasn't outstanding, but everything else was way too good to give this place a 4. The burger wasn't bad, I am from California, and I think we may just use bigger more flavorful patties there.

We got there at 5:55pm and ordered off the Happy Hour menu. I got a beer sampler, cajun tots, and a burger for 14 dollars! Such a good price for all that food! Then we grabbed the food and jumped on over to the theatre section and saw a movie for $4! Dinner, two beers, and a movie for $21!

Like I said before the meat on the burger wasn't anything special, but the sauce was really good. The only reason I got the cheeseburger was because of Happy Hour, next time I will try a special burger, optimistic about that! Cajun Tots, you're welcome. They were soooo soo good!

Whiskey Sampler!!!! I didn't choose this option because again, the beer sampler was less than $7 for Happy Hour, so I went with that, but I have never seen this before! Very unique.

Lastly, the movie! Sound and video were all great. I would honestly rather see a movie in this theatre than any other theatre, and it's cheaper! Why not??
