The New Hong Phat Market is an absolute gem in the area, and I’m so glad to have discovered it! From the moment you step inside, it’s clear this market offers an authentic experience that stands out from other grocery stores. The variety of products is impressive — whether you’re looking for fresh produce, Asian specialty ingredients, or unique snacks, this place has it all. One of the highlights of the market is the incredible selection of fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruits. You’ll find hard-to-get items like Thai basil, lemongrass, and fresh kaffir lime leaves, all perfect for adding that extra depth to your cooking. The quality of the produce is always top-notch, and I appreciate how well-organized the aisles are, making it easy to navigate through the large store. The meat and seafood section is also fantastic. They carry a wide range of fresh fish, shellfish, and meats, including many cuts that you might not find at a typical supermarket. The butchers are knowledgeable and willing to help if you’re looking for something specific, and they’ll often offer great recommendations. The market also carries an impressive variety of dry goods, from noodles and sauces to packaged snacks and beverages. I’ve always been able to find what I need for my recipes, and there are always new, interesting products to try. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. What really sets The New Hong Phat Market apart is the overall experience. It’s clean, well-maintained, and offers a true taste of Asian culture right in the heart of the community. Whether you’re an experienced cook or just looking to try something new, this market is a must-visit! p/s: you can get frozen sugar cane

More interesting than the Walmart that preceded it could have ever hoped to be, this brand-spanking-new Hong Phat Supercenter is something to behold. While it is still coming online and filling out with new features and tenants, the place is absolutely sprawling, and filled with more variety of imported goods than I have seen anywhere else, outside of Uwajimaya in Beaverton. The produce here, like all Hong Phats, is larger, better quality, and cheaper than any commercial chain grocer such as WinCo, Safeway, or Fred Meyer. Just about any ingredient, sauce, or spice you can imagine (and more than a few you can't!) is readily available here, if you know where to look; some items are squirreled away in places that aren't immediately intuitive, but as you are likely to spend quite a while exploring this place, you'll find it eventually, if you are patient. I have read that this flagship Hong Phat is meant to eventually host restaurants, a more populated Food Court than it is currently, as well as specialty retailers and services, much like the mini-mall surrounding Fuboon, a little further north, in between this Hong Phat and the other big one, near Stark Street. While that is a vision as yet unrealized, you can see that the wheels are turning to make this a grocery store experience unlike any other in the Portland-Metro. It's not there yet, but I have high hopes that it will be, in the near future.

I have been to the Hong Phat Supercenter multiple times in the past two months. It's big and full of products to select from.

I have been a huge supporter of their old store on 82nd. I thought their products fresh, prices, and business practices have been fair.

However, this new store is in over there head. To be frank, I'm disgusted by their management, the dishonesty, and how employees are trained to treat their customers. The employees are very combative when you ask a simple question as please check the price, and they have very limited English. The store mislabeled and misplaced many products. Things that should be refrigerated or not, some are on the shelf. For example, a 2lbs jujube was labeled $1.49/lbs, but customers are charged $18-24/box. Seasonings are labeled $1.49, but are charged $4.99. Candy upc barcodes are not found in the computer system, instead of calling for a price check. They type in a random $4.99 price, even when you tell them the sign says $1.25.

Some of their fresh products are not fresh anymore. They are left unsold and are starting to rot. I don't even want to touch the food items, since I don't know how long they have been left on the counter. It would be nice to see them making it fresh behind the counter as you order it.

Secondly, there is no customer service or return counter! When there's a price discrepancy, I was told, I can dispute with the cashier then and there as she's ringing up my items. I ask to review everything on my purchase but she only scrolls to show me a few items. Meanwhile, There's 5 other customers waiting in line. I bought a few items, according to my calculations should be paying under $65, but ended up paying $254. How can there be such a huge price gap. It doesn't make sense. So I walked away from the transaction! I couldn't get them to price check anything that they manually entered the price for.

I have the money to pay, but I have never been morebfrustrated by a store before. Never have I been so embarrassed!

And I can read and speak English. I can't imagine if a non English speaker is put into this situation. I'm sure they would leave all the items and walk away from the...

They have a huge selection, one of the largest Asian markets I’ve been to, possibly the biggest! We even got a free watermelon. I really wanted to give it five stars, but I have to settle for three due to a few areas needing improvement. Overall, the store offered great variety and felt fairly safe, clean, and organized, despite a lot of stock in the aisles, which made navigation a bit tricky. The produce selection was unlike anything I’ve seen, with an impressive array of options. However, some items, particularly the fruit under the misters, were very wilted, and a couple even had mold. A LOT of mold. Certain products were also unavailable, which was disappointing. Some items in the fridges were past the expiration. The bakery was more of a minor letdown; I hoped for more fresh options, but it mainly only offered baguettes and rolls, with a few cream- or raisin-filled items and cakes that seemed to rely heavily on artificial dyes. Customer service was decent—our cashier was friendly. However, the employees didn’t feel approachable because they were so busy, and I’m sure they would’ve helped if needed, but I wasn’t comfortable interrupting them. I eventually found the answers on my own even though it took a while. It felt like the store could benefit from better quality control and more staff to manage the workload. Perhaps hiring additional night stocking crew or offering higher pay to attract more employees could help. Overall, it’s a great store with massive potential, but these issues held it back. Did not try the deli however the premade food...
