Please keep in mind that I have had ramen all over the world for years, and the main factor that I rate ramen restaurants on is, of course, my opinion on how it stacks up. This place is awesome. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for ramen or Asian fare. I was fortunate enough to come in when it was slower. The environment and service are excellent, as is the food. I had their Tan Tan ramen. If you haven't had that before, this is a fun place to try a new flavor. The ramen is good, I have been here before years ago. I was impressed then, and I was impressed again today. It is a smooth ramen, a decent size for the price, and they don't skimp on the chashu pork. That being said, it is a 5 star rating, but 4 star ramen in my book. Great ramen that you come come back for again and again is an amalgamation of the details. This is truly good ramen, but I have had better. Again, don't discount them. I will be back.

I’ve been here many times. The ramen is far from the best in the city, but it hits the spot and is much closer to home. This past visit, we made the mistake of ordering the “shumai”(we ate a few before taking the photo, fyi). It doesn’t surprise me that some of their food is reheated frozen stuff. That’s not uncommon for restaurants and not necessarily a problem. But this was pathetic. It looks like it was air-fried? I’d rather have had microwaved Trader Joe’s shumai. And it was $10. Also, we’re pretty sure the karaage donburi has less karaage than it used to, but maybe that’s just our shrinkflation economy these days. Thanks, federal reserve. I don’t leave a lot of reviews. I’m doing this because I like having a ramen place nearby, but I want them to do better. In the meantime, if you don’t want to drive all the way to kinboshi or Afuri, come here for the ramen, but be wary of some of the sides.

04/03/19: 4.5 out of 5 - This is my first time trying Tokyo-ya, and it's during its "soft opening." I came here with my Wednesday Running Group. Admittedly, I am impressed with the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. Tokyo-ya deserves a high rating for an excellent job considering the "soft opening". The staff are nice and accommodating. The place is clean with ample seating, and clean bathrooms. And yes, the ramen prefixes are very hot and tasty. If you don't like the prefixes, then go for making your own bowl. Either way, you can't go wrong. Such tasty and amazing broth. I most definitely will be coming back. When in the area or looking for a good bowl of noodles, do try this place out once and decide for yourself. Enjoy!

My brother and I both applied to work here since they had a now hiring sign posted. They started to train us the very next day. And after four hours of training, the manager told us that I would not be getting paid for the hours of training and working. Additionally, every hour after training, workers will not be receiving minimum wage and their pay will be cut to only $6 until probation period ends, which is from 30 to 50 hours. They did not specify when it'll be over because they said it depends on whether our performances were to their expectations. Also, servers will only be getting less than 20% and they have the right to withheld your tip if your performance doesn't meet their expectations.

I questioned why that is and they said that is what the probation period states under the law of oregon. We then asked the manager if she agrees to this and she said "no, that is one of the reasons why I am leaving after today." she continued and explained that they pay people under the table because they do not have a payroll system, so they will write their own checks with the amount that they want to pay their employees.

After questioning their unethical policy, they told us that we do not have to work anymore because they have found other workers. Of course we did not believe this, but we still agreed to leave and asked for our four hours worth of pay. They refused and the owner had shooing gestures telling us to leave. I couldn't believe how rude he could be. He then decided to give us the pay after we said we would report them, but forced me to sign something. I did not agree to signing it and left...

To start off they bribe you with a free soda to rate and review them, I dont know if people think they have to do so as a five star or are actually being honest. I'm writing this review about a week from leaving. As a customer.. I'd have to say this place is overpriced for the quality.. Maybe they had a bad day but the pricing makes our first impression the last impression.

To start the broth wasn't flavorful and I'd know, my partner would slurp down every drop if it was good-having it left on the table is how you know they didn't care for it, barely touched it. And the noodles quality were basically on par with maruchan ramen from the package.

For me I got the teriyaki rice bowl. The meat was dry and the flavor was lacking. I think panda express has them beat on it. Espescially at thier price.

All in all I'd not comeback honestly..

But e eryones pallettes are different maybe you'll like it more than...
