Make sure to check the purchased items and amounts on the receipt! Shun Fat Supermarket OVERCHARGES you when you're not paying attention. My friends and I always choose to cook hot pot when we get together because it is the simplest and best way to cook. We always go to SF Supermarket to shop before cooking hot pot, we can buy all the food we want, and the meat does not need to be sliced, itâs already sliced for sale. This time I came to SF Supermarket to buy food, I bought some vegetables, several boxes of mushrooms, shrimp balls, fish balls, which cost more than 200 dollars. I thought it was a bit expensive, so I asked the cashier, and she said that I bought two boxes of a kind of mushroom and had to pay twice. Well, on the way home, I still felt that the amount was a bit more than I expected. After I got home, I unloaded the goods and checked the quantity and amount of each item on the receipt. Finally found that there was an item that cost $49.99, but there was no such thing among the ingredients. I returned to SF Supermarket and asked the staff what this item was, and she said it was the mushroom you bought. Interesting! Mushrooms sell for $49.99, are the mushrooms sold in SF Supermarket made of gold? Whatâs even more interesting is that there was no such mushroom in the items I purchased, so I asked them to refund the money. They made various excuses, and finally refunded me $45. I used to think that the products in SF Supermarket were a bit expensive, but I have never looked at the receipt carefully. This is the first time I have carefully looked at the receipt and checked the items. So is this the first time that SF Supermarket has overcharged? I remain skeptical. If you like to shop at SF Supermarket, remember to check the number of items and check the...
Read moreThis place is huge! I mean itâs like you could take every Asian market in Vancouver and hide them inside it. And whatâs more, itâs well lit. And itâs organized. And clean. In fact it feels a little strange. I lived in Asia for years and I spend an inordinate amount of time in Asian markets and Shun Fat is extraordinary on a variety on levels. It is one of the best stocked, biggest, cleanest, Asian markets Iâve ever been in. There are things there lining the aisles I havenât seen since I left Asia 30 years ago. Endless varieties of chili oils, frozen dumplings, noodles, sauces, meats, fish, bits, pieces, mysterious things! I mean you could spend weeks wandering around this place trying things, learning about the world⌠making wonderful mistakes. Now itâs true that there are some pretty predatory shoppers there and although I had heard of the legendary little old Asian lady shoppers I was unprepared for the line of diminutive women who ruthlessly cut in front of me in the checkout line until a gentleman behind me threatened to call the manager and yelled at them. But even that was kind of an adventure! Shun Fat just screams to be explored. It wants to educate you, to become a part of your life. Literally if you canât travel abroad then this the next best thing. You get to know a place like this. Not just the candy aisle. The whole place. After you leave, do yourself a favor and wander around the building. Lots of fun...
Read moreWe enjoyed browsing through the aisles though the store needs more improvement since they just been operated for just 2 weeks. There are still unoccupied spaces. Hope to see bubble tea, bakery, fresh food in those empty spaces. I think this will be the Asian store that we'll be going to at least once a month. They carry different kinds of fruits and veggies - most are fresh, but of course some are not. The young coconut is very cheap. We don't mind chopping them off, and cracking the shell. The box of mangoes (14 pieces) was only $10.00, and they're big. Oh, they're very sweet!!! They do have wide varieties of juice, noodles, snacks, seafoods (they'll clean the fish for you), and a lot more. We ended up buying more than what we came for. Whew! I love the frozen Vietnamese banana leaves cake. On our way out, we received a bag of rice and a bottle of hot sauce for free. If there's one negative comment we can say is when they speak in their own language while they are ringing up the customers. We think it's unethical. We understand that it's easier for them to communicate in their native tongue, but not in front of their customers who don't speak their language. Other than this observation, I'll be back...
