Powell Villa — Local services in Portland

Powell Villa is located at 122nd and Powell across the street from Safeway. There are many businesses tucked into this place. Baskin Robbins is within the same parking lot, Ace Hardware Store, Shell Gas Station, Classic Billiards Lounge, Laundromat, and .... of course, a Dollar Tree! This location can be a little rough after dark, on foot. As the lighting is a bit dark in the parking lot! So should you need to pick up something at the Dollar Tree, Hardware Store, or need to use the laundromat, plan well in advanced to finish your shopping before dusk. The store was in such disarray, it almost looked like the store was a victim of looting. Some of the aisles were stocked and neat, while others were in shambles. The HABA aisles were the worst. The hair bands, pony holders and things like that were very sparse and messy. One of the items I was looking for was mascara. The entire makeup section was really awful looking. Very limited product, hardly anything was where it should be. It didn't look nice at all. I would post a note or two in the area telling customers that we apologize for the mess, or something. Advertising posters in the front windows of the store highlight new items, but then you go in the store and look for said items, and they don't have any. I hope...

My first visit saw me arrive under the impression that the store was open, the closing time is 9pm according to DT's website. I arrived @ 8:20pm, however, the sign on the front door showed Sunday closing @ 8pm. This is the first time I've ever seen a Dollar Tree close before 9pm, or have different Sunday hours. Location is set mid-century design shopping center with really cool neon sign out front on edge of the parking lot. Otherwise, it appears to be kind of a rough area, lots of activity on the sidewalk out front. The interior was messy, items on the floor were stepped on, or over.
