I have been going to this meat market for awhile and have never been so disappointed in the customer service or bad attitude that the āmanagerā had toward my daughter and her friend today. The two of them went into the store and ordered about $45.00 worth of meat and when they were ready to pay the magnetic strip on the food stamp card would not work. My daughter asked them to try and enter it manually because earlier while shopping at Winco she had had the same problem and they refused saying they did not enter cards manually āfor one reason or anotherā. The gentleman I was speaking with could not give me a direct answer or solid reason as to why they would not take the time to do this. My daughter felt pressured and embarrassed and didnāt know what to do because the store was very busy and there were a lot of people waiting to be helped so her friend paid for the meat with a debit card to resolve the issue. I feel the store would have been more than happy to enter a bank debit card manually and because it was a food stamp purchase they chose not to accommodate my daughter. Discriminating against people because they use a food card is wrong and their decision to not make the effort because of that is disappointing. Speaking with the owner today about the situation and his attitude about it was also discouraging. I thought more of the business and itās integrity and feeling toward the community and itās customers. I guess I was wrong. There are other meat markets like Gartnerās to shop at. I hope they seek to improve how they treat their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThese guys rock. I go here for years off and on, for the about 8ā long, raw beef š„© thigh bones š with marrow, for my big, black English Lab. As I donāt want small little ones, that she could inhale and choke on, due to chewing excitedly. (Iāve heard of this happening personally, from people I know who are dog-owners. Especially Lab/Retriever type breeds, if eating too small of things). They get stupid, excited, & a tad over-zealous LOL The men in there are always amazing. Hadnāt been in, in a good 6 months, went in a few days ago, and they still remembered me, asked where Iāve been and how I and my dog were, and are always super friendly, professional, knowledgeable and eager to make the customer happy. Got hungry looking at the stuffed chicken breasts so got the Maui (I think?) chicken breast, stuffed with white cheese š§ and ham š (even tho I hate ham), and bread crumb coating, and the twice baked cheese potato for myself LOL. It did not disappoint. They always give a free hotdog što my dog if they can see her from the car or outside LOL THEY NEED A TIP JAR ON THE COUNTER!! Theyāre always so on top of things, and so friendly all the time, that Iām always moved to tip, but never see a place to. Most of the employees really deserve for us customers to have that option. & As a customer, Iād really appreciate that option/not have to ask, and just see a tip jar out. So much better going to these smaller, not big corporate types of places. Glad...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is the best place for buying meat and really great prepared foods for your family and friends. High quality, great selection and locally owned by the nicest and most professional people. Top notch, gold standard, delicious and safety you can count on. I would love to see new pictures of the entire shop since I am homesick often and grew up here. I now live in another state and I miss my Uncle Dennis Berry so much. I have the best memories of visiting and he would always let me go in the office and he would have me choose anything I wanted out of his shop. I'm so glad it's still there, unlike many great Portland businesses that couldn't survive all that was thrown at them....
