Food Lion — Local services in Portsmouth

Not a bad store by any means unless you go to check out. %90 of the time you go up there at night you either get stuck with someone with headphones in who can't hear shit. Just the situation that keep happening to the point to some of the cashier can't stop talking enough to check out people. I get the store constantly changing people out but the little shit the reason I hate going in there anymore. Especially after standing in line for 20min tonight with only 2 people in front of me that maybe had 10 times there no reason the cashier couldn't stop talking long enough when they were another 7 customers behind me. It's a constant problem at this store definitely can see why people steal out of there all the time. It's not being impatient employees courtesy to keep thing moving not chatting for 10min with someone about that happen last week. Good produce, decent meat selection (they were waiting for the truck today and had no spare ribs or whole chicken). The staff is terrible, was waiting in line behind a woman who was having trouble with something, no big deal. The cashier at the customer service desk (which was closed) looked aroat my wife and I then proceeded to check out 2 employees in uniform and go back to the other side of the area behind the counter. A few minutes late (still waiting in behind the woman have an issue) she checks out another customer who she seemed to know, when asked if she was open she stated I'm closed and went back to the corner of the customer service area and started talking with another employee. Have always liked this store but will be giving my business to Kroger or Farm Fresh...

Never going here again. Every time we go there were approached and asked for money. The last time we were there a man was in my husbands face screaming at him because my husband told the man to stop harassing the cashier and a woman in a wheelchair. The security guard stood there and didn't say a word or try to stop it. The head cashier told us he's there all the time causing problems. If that's so then why do you let this person continue to come and harass people? And what is the point of the guard if they sit there and do nothing? I don't feel safe there so we no longer go, which is unfortunate because you can hit a rock with it from my house. I understand the area isn't the greatest but that's no means to be complacent...
