I wish I'd known about this place sooner! I just bought my first pair of roller skates in many years. Since I know next to nothing about skates, I knew I needed help, and this was definitely the place to get it! My feet were measured and after determining what type of skating I intended to do, I was offered a few pairs to try. When I decided to buy outdoor wheels in addition to the included indoor ones and a separate set of bearings to make wheel changes faster, they pressed the bearings into the outdoor wheels for me. True skating enthusiasts, they offered sincere words of encouragement as I resume skating after a very long time and seemed truly interested in making sure I had the right gear to make my experience a positive one. Great customer service and product knowledge. Although it's a bit of a drive for me, this will now be my go-to shop for all things skate related (as well as some awesome t-shirts and other...
Read moreThey had a set up at the Centre of the Universe Tournament in State College, PA. I was having some issues getting a toe stop in so I asked if they could help out. It turned out my skates had a LOT of very serious issues that I was completely unaware of. My plates were not screwed on all the way and both were very loose and barely hanging on. Apparently another skate shop that I had taken my plates and boots to mount last year did not use the correct hardware. They fixed all of it before my first game (which was only an hour). They also helped my teammmate out when her plate fell apart before the last game. They didn’t have the correct part so the owner let her use her own skates so that my teammate could still play. They’re honestly the best and I will forever buy all my derby related...
Read moreThis was my first time at Rage Parade, but it will not be my last! I took my preteen and my teenager with me. Owner, LolliRot (that is her roller derby name), is so welcoming! She is very knowledgeable and does not hesitate to answer questions - even the ones my kids asked that I didn't understand. This is a skate shop, so there are roller skates (for roller derby as well as the fun kind that reminded me of my childhood) and skateboards, wheels, bearings, tools, helmets, knee pads, elbow pads, band t-shirts and some really fun pants and dresses. There is also some amazing coffee, handmade candles (made by someone local), roller skate toe covers (also made by a local artist), and adorable earrings (made by another local artist). If you are in the area, you should definitely check out...
