My first order a few weeks ago via Door Dash was great. I only had good things to say about the turkey and cheddar crepe and iced americano.
I decided to go to Pressed Coffee and Books today for the first time in person. I brought my mom and was hoping we would have a great experience, considering the food and coffee that I had delivered once before was great, however that was not the case.
We drove 30 minutes this morning and ordered four crepes and two coffees. Before we could even finish our order, the barista (there were two workers this morning, one specifically making drinks and the other specifically making food), so the barista making drinks cut us off on crepe #2, she rolled her eyes and notified us that there would be a long wait. We said that was no problem, as we are just out to enjoy a Sunday morning breakfast and coffee. So this was the first incident that made us feel like she was trying to sway us from ordering anything additional, and mind you this is only at crepe #2. We put in our order and sat down at the table and were playing cards, once again to enjoy the morning and everything was fine.
One of the next customers came up, and it was a man ordering a single crepe. This same barista told him very loudly “Just so you are aware, I have a very large order for crepes and it’s going to take a long time for yours”. She then turned around and checked the screen and said “They ordered four crepes and I’d hate for you to have to wait so long for one crepe”. Mind you, we are sitting at the table listening to this the entire time, while she was calling us out and now telling other customers about our order and basically blaming us for the slowness.
The next group of customers came in and it was a large group of adults and children. She very loudly once again notified them of the wait for crepes, before they even ordered, and told them about our large order and how they were very behind. She said crepes take at least 4-5 minutes a piece, but bagels are much faster. So here we are again, she’s hinting to the fact, with us still sitting there, that our order is a huge inconvenience to her.
Besides the rudeness, we put an hour and a half worth of quarters in the meter and came out with our order with 8 minutes remaining. We were not concerned with the wait, we understand that they may have been understaffed and there were many customers coming in with orders. We happily waited. The issue we had was the rudeness and remarks that were made when they could have been handled in a professional manner by simply saying, I apologize but there is a wait…. Not being rude to a paying customer, and notifying other customers of the delay that was caused by a different customer, especially while we sat right there.
We will not be back and I hope that the barista who was making the drinks today is notified of how to properly speak to a paying customer. She very obviously would have preferred we take our business elsewhere, which really put a damper on our Sunday morning, and also unfortunately is the reasoning for us...
Read more** Gentle update * Thank you for taking the time to respond. I understand that DoorDash and weather can affect cold drinks, but my concerns went beyond just temperature. The cold brew had little flavor, even though I paid extra for an added flavor shot, and the yogurt was bland with a portion size that didn’t match what was pictured on DoorDash.
I really wanted to enjoy everything — I had high hopes! And while I appreciate your offer to make things right, I also hope this feedback is taken as constructive so future customers, whether dining in or ordering out, get the best experience possible. Thanks again. *.
**I really want to love this place because it has great potential. The golden milk was definitely my favorite — full of flavor and comforting. Unfortunately, everything else I tried fell a little flat. The yogurt and graham crackers were pretty bland, the latte coffee and tea lacked depth, and the cold brew tasted watered down, even with the extra flavor I paid for (which I couldn’t really taste). I understand this is a health-focused spot, but healthy doesn’t have to mean flavorless. Also, the yogurt cup size was noticeably smaller than what was pictured on DoorDash. I hope they can find a better balance between health-conscious options and still delivering bold,...
Read moreAfter having a terrible first experience, my wife and I decided to give Pressed another go. Only this time we went to the location instead of using doordash.
Let me tell you it made all the difference. The crepes do not survive the travel via delivery service. However on site they are melt in your mouth perfection. The coffee was much better this go around. Not sure what happened last time, but there wasn't a lingering burnt flavor anymore. I truly feel like our first encounter was just an off day, after our more recent experience.
My wife enjoyed a cold brew w their brown sugar syrup. I myself had an iced mocha latte w an extra shot.
I gotta tell yall. Laurel and Coal are holding this place down for sure. Dream team 💯💯💯 Customer service on point, polite and courteous. They truly made the experience for us.
Legit the only reason it's a 4 out of 5 is bc it doesn't travel well. If you want to get the real and best experience of this gem, go to the location. Don't...
