Was excited to have a new prototype Target location as each new layout they have come out with over the years has usually been better that the last, always with a better and improved flow. This is the first time that I would say they have gone backwards with this new store design. The store has a very odd layout, departments placed near other departments that just don't really make sense. Each department is very small as well, as if they were a store that only sold clothing and tried to branch out and sell a little bit of everything one day which is odd because Target has always done this as a general merchandise retailer well for decades and has somehow gone in reverse from this. The grocery area is horrendously small and shoved in its side. I wish Target would just back off grocery like in the 90's and just have a basic market section with simple staples and necessities or go all in on grocery and build full scale SuperTarget locations, (which in my opinion were the best layouts that Target ever came out with and are still easiest to shop to this day along with the old Target Greatland prototypes). Just pick one and stick with it. Grocery or no grocery, stop trying to play both sides of it, this doesn't work for Target or anyone that tries to have one foot in and one foot out with grocery. The aisles are obnoxiously small and cramped. It's so tight that you can barely fit two carts at the same time. The front end has 22 registers but only six of those are regular lanes, not nearly enough for a store of this size. This isn't a city Target with a need for 16 self checkout lanes which by the way are express lanes only and they only open half of those from what I've ever seen. Optical, Guest Service and Starbucks feel like they were shoved in their corners like they were each after thoughts from the design of the building. On top of all of this, they are regularly out of stock on what little they have in each department.
Honestly, it's worth just making the drive to the Frisco or McKinney SuperTarget locations. This new location really isn't worth the time and if this is what Target stores will be like moving forward, the future doesn't look too...

This Target 🛒 opened in October 2023 and has a very different store design compared to any other Target I’ve been to 👀 Not necessarily in a good way…
As soon as you walk in 🚪 — Target Optical 👓 is immediately to your left. Neat concept, but kinda random being right at the entrance. After that is the School & Office section ✏️📚 …and oddly enough, toys 🧸🎮 are the second department to the left. Very strange flow.
Electronics 📱🎧? Oh yeah — shoved ALL the way in the back left corner of the store. Definitely not where you’d expect it to be.
The Toy section 🧸 was surprisingly small for a newer, larger store. And for collectors like me, the NECA & McFarlane section by Electronics 🦇🧟♂️ was tiny with barely any merch at all 😑 Super disappointing compared to most Targets.
One of the biggest issues? The aisles are soooo cramped 😬 Barely enough room for two carts to pass side by side 🛒↔️🛒 It makes shopping feel tight and uncomfortable.
The outside of the store looks wild too 🤯 — like two separate Targets mashed together 🏢🏢 Entrances are wayyyy on the far left and far right ➡️⬅️ instead of more centered like a normal Target. It honestly makes it look like two smaller stores got merged into one big one.
One cool feature though — the cart returns ♻️ have big arch signs that light up with “Thank You” ✨ Nice little touch, and it makes it easier to see where to return your carts 🛒.
Checkouts were lacking. Most Targets have 4 self-checkouts on each end — this one has 8 per side, but only 6 regular registers total 😐 For a store this size? Not great.
The bathrooms 🚻 are located on the front wall near the right entrance 🚪. They’re a bit inconveniently placed, as there’s nothing else on the front wall. Right next to Customer Service 🧾 (which is awkwardly stuffed in a corner), and Starbucks ☕️ is right next to that — no seating, weird placement, just kinda awkward overall.
Final Thoughts:
Cool to see a new Target design, but honestly… the layout is weird 🤷♂️ Cramped aisles, tiny departments, inconvenient bathrooms, and just a strange shopping flow. It’s got a couple nice little touches, but overall not my...
Read moreI saw Speedo Men’s Surf Strider water shoes black priced at 70% off for $10.49 in the aisle A34. I took it to the register. Alice scanned it and said the price as 34.99 I said about the 70% clearance but she needed proof in the form of a picture. Since I was in a rush, I went back to take the picture to prove it. Please help me answering why the register was not updated when there was a clearance price in the actual aisle? Why the cashier is not coached to ask for help with a fellow staff or supervisor to verify the price instead of asking the customer to go back and take the picture? Alice was highly disrespectful, unapologetic for the mishap and behaving as if I am wrong as a customer which showed either she is super rude or racially discriminating me. I asked for supervisor and Paul came in and after hearing my story he at least apologized but trying to justify Alice cannot leave the register to verify the price. As a supervisor, he is responsible to provide best customer experience at all times, coach sub staff and remind them of the importance of treating every customer in the same way, update the pricing in the system matching what they display in the shelves. Are you disgracing yourself by showcasing staff like Alice? This was just my 2nd visit to this newly opened store and I had never experienced such a bad event in any...
