The Mrs made a great plan for the day with the grandkids. Drive from the South Shore to Quincy. Park for free, hop on the ferry. Take it over to Boston, a short walk to the Aquarium, lunch, ride on the ferry back to Quincy, missing all the Friday afternoon traffic on the Expressway and then home. Everything was perfect except for one thing: “No Ferry”. After standing on the dock alone with 3 elderly fishermen for a few minutes only then did they inform us there was no ferry running this week due to maintenance. There was nothing about this on their website’s home page. There were no signs posted at the location. Later we realized you would have to click on another page in their website to see the notice about service being down for the week. Beyond the lack of clear and easy communication about the shut down, what about securing another vessel for the week to replace the regular one. After all this is a major US city on the coast, with good planning you’d surely be able to secure a back up so as not to disrupt service. Not sure if we’ll give it another try or so as not to disappoint the grandkids again, we’ll try another ferry service somewhere else. Be forewarned; Check & Recheck before you head out to the Marina Bay Ferry in Quincy to make sure it’s actually running on the day...
