Abberly Grove Apartment Homes — Local services in Raleigh

My first caution to you is that the rent is too high for this to be the straight HOOD. Its has potential but its chaos most days. Buildings are a little old but well maintained over the years, the maintenance guys are the best i will say that. Another downside is the ALL ameninities are always taken over by a big group of kids/teenagers without supervision. Most of them are very rude and i personally have been harassed by them & seen it often. If you want to relax by the pool forget about it! They send all these rules by email and every time i ever went it was packed full by guest who didnt live there, and they always opened to the door to more guest who also didnt live there. Its the only complex i have lived in that they dont have some kind of security checking wristbands/ID. Its very unfair that one who pays $1500 for a one bedroom cant enjoy the amenities taken over by people who pay $0. The complex also has a very big spider issue and alot of mice find their way in buildings as well. The property overall is very well maintained by landscapers. Overall i would recommend you research other places for this price and make sure you tour the actual apartment you will be leasing not the model one they have by the office. Im glad im out the hood, i found a 2 BR for less in north hills and much cheaper.

Edit: since many of you found my review helpful i thought i would also add something i always look into when apartment hunting. I forgot to mention the in-apartment noise. I lived on 1st story and i could always hear my neighbor upstairs even all night (was rare to get full night sleep) and also my neighbor beside me i could hear him and his gf argue everday. VERY THIN WALLS. Whenever i also sat in my living room to watch tv i could hear everyone coming down from the stairs since they are so old and creak so bad! You can literally hear everything...

I would like to share a real experience with prospecting residents, to add an honest account from someone who actually lived here.

Our 12-month lease started off well. Kudos must be given to the maintenance team, who were always prompt and professional, and to Stanice Bolden, who was consistently caring and friendly. She truly makes you feel heard. If your needs from the staff are minimal, you will mostly be accommodated.

The issues began when we tried to transfer into a larger unit for a family member moving to North Carolina. This process was understandably stressful, with logistics of availability and timing to work around. During this time, we started to notice friction with the community manager, Krystael Hall, both in her support and attitude. After a walk-through inspection, the only concerns raised were a scratched wall, a fridge drawer needing repair, and a toilet with apparent "hard water stains from neglect" (which we later cleaned that night leaving it spotless). Despite this, Krystael denied our transfer, claiming the damages exceeded the $500 limit, and told us we would have to wait six months to reapply. This timeline didn’t work for us, which she knew, yet delivered without a hint of sympathy. The most frustrating part was that we later received our full deposit back, proving there were no damages worth charging. This left us questioning the real reason for the denial and feeling that our situation was handled without understanding.

Lastly, during our time here, there were multiple incidents in the area including shootings, car theft, and even a murder on the property, two weeks before we moved out. New Bern Ave is a big factor here obviously but I wanted to share that I noticed how much more active things...

I’ll start by saying with the exception of the wonderful, loving home I grew up in with my mom and sisters I’ve never had a better experience living anywhere else. The Abberly Grove team is amazing. Their kindness, strong work ethic and professionalism is unmatched. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. The maintenance team is exceptionally awesome. Thank you Larry Stokes, Chance Kale & Quincy Hopkins. Chance was like a brother to me with encouraging words and hilarious sense of humor lifting my spirits when I needed it most. Larry thank you for always encouraging my son. That means the world to me because nothing’s more important to me than my children. I’ll never forget you guys. These men are always busy working but in passing they’ll still take the time to wave or say ‘hello’. They care about people. With their knowledge and skills they go above & beyond to make sure everything’s working properly and residents are happy. They’re an asset to any company and Abberly is lucky to have them. Chris Jones and Chris Carlyle thank you for always being so kind and helpful, making me feel at home whenever I walked into the office or saw you around the property. Thank you for how well you manage Abberly Grove. Terrion thank you for helping me make Abberly Grove a place I could call home. Thank you Derek, Holly & Shannon. Shannon you’re such a sweetheart, always so kind and helpful.. a positive impression when someone first walks into the office.
