TLDR: two customers got very ill after being served by this place, resulting in dizziness, confusion, nausea, and vomiting for over 6 hours.
Myself and my two friends visited Krave Thursday, March 30th. All three of us have had kava and kratom multiple times.
We all ordered the pineapple krush (which the manager later said is one of the “weaker” krush drinks) and sat down to drink our drinks. The drink was EXTREMELY powdery and not mixed at all, but we thought maybe this was normal for this place (although we had never seen plant powder pooled on the sides of a drink before). After finishing our drinks two of us began to feel very bad, including dizziness, nausea, and eventually throwing up. I drove us there, and having never had a problem driving after having one kava/krantom drink, thought I would be fine to drive after. I was not able to drive given I could barely walk in a straight line. The two of us continued to be extremely ill for the next 6+ hours, including chills, shakes, and endless vomiting even when the drink was gone from our system. The third person never vomited but felt slightly dizzy/nauseas for the remainder of the night.
The facts: The two of us who got ill had last eaten at 11:30 and 1:30 that day (we had kava at 5). Although we know it’s better to have on a full stomach, we’ve never had problems before and were going to get dinner after so we thought it would be fine. The bartender later told us he was “unable to give his spiel” about the different plants because we said we had been to other kava places, however this is slightly untrue as he still took 5 minutes to walk us through the menu. After we had been violently ill for 4+ hours all the manager said was “I hope they won’t hold this experience and let it prevent them from trying other plant drinks” - as I said, we have been regulars at kava bars for 2+ years so clearly there was something different about this dose/drink. We were also off put that they didn’t even offer to refund us after the horrible experience. We spoke to the owner of another kava place and told them our story and what happened, they said something like this should NEVER happen regardless of how strong a drink is.
In conclusion, BE CAUTIOUS if going to this place. We will never be returning, but if you do go make sure you are given the appropriate amount of plant. It is our opinion that NO ONE should be made so ill by one drink, even having not eaten for a few hours, and especially having drank...

Read moreI love this place. I moved to NC from Florida, which has a bar on every block. NC doesn’t have many around, but thank GOD there is Krave. I’m a kava bar regular, I’ve been to over 30 kava bars, so I have a lot of experience with kava and kratom. There’s bars I like, and there’s bars I LOVE. I love this place. It’s such a vibe. Krave has a great assortment of different drinks for different people. In addition to their kava, which is great (the quality, not the taste, it never is lol!), they have teas, bottled/canned carbonated options, coffees and other specialty drinks, like the Krush. I’ve been drinking this stuff for 10 years and the Krush is the ultimate drink. It’s like 7 teas in one. And one gets the job done for me! The environment of the bar is super chill, super friendly, everyone who works there is really nice and helpful. When I first moved here, the employees and customers welcomed me with open arms. Any time I bring a friend in, the bartender takes the time to go into depth to explain the drinks, what kava and kratom are, and how it may affect you. I really like this place and can’t wait...
